What to Know

The Drake Bulldogs and the Valparaiso Beacons will face off in a Missouri Valley clash at 7 p.m. ET Feb. 23 at Athletics-Recreation Center. The Bulldogs will be hoping to build upon the 73-66 win they picked up against Valpo when they previously played in December of last year.

Drake didn't have too much trouble with the Indiana State Sycamores at home on Monday as they won 74-58. Four players on Drake scored in the double digits: guard D.J. Wilkins (15), guard Roman Penn (15), guard Tucker DeVries (14), and guard Garrett Sturtz (12).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Valpo beat the Evansville Aces 74-69 on Monday. Valpo can attribute much of their success to guard Kevion Taylor, who had 23 points, and forward Ben Krikke, who had 16 points in addition to five rebounds.

The Bulldogs are the favorite in this one, with an expected 6.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 6-13 against the spread when favored.

Their wins bumped Drake to 20-9 and the Beacons to 13-15. In Drake's win, Roman Penn had 15 points and five assists and D.J. Wilkins had 15 points. We'll see if Valpo have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
