Jared Wayne: Cut with injury settlement
Wayne (knee) reached an injury settlement with the Texans on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The wide receiver now has a chance to play in 2024 if he can get healthy and catch on with another team. Wayne was waived with an injury designation by Houston on Monday. Texans' Jared Wayne: Dropped by Houston
The Texans waived Wayne (undisclosed) with an injury designation Monday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
In a corresponding move, the Texans inked veteran running back Cam Akers. The nature and severity of Wayne's injury is unclear at this point, but assuming he clears waivers, he'll revert to injured reserve, meaning he'd miss the entire season barring an injury settlement.

Texans' Jared Wayne: Signs deal with Houston
The Texans signed Wayne to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Wayne was placed on Houston's practice squad injured list in early December but is evidently healthy enough to sign a deal and go into the offseason with the Texans. Undrafted out of Pittsburgh in 2023, he spent most of the season on Houston's practice squad after failing to catch a pass during the preseason.

Texans' Jared Wayne: Dealing with leg injury
Wayne didn't practice Saturday due to a leg injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
A rookie UDFA out of Pittsburgh, Wayne played 16 snaps (12 offensive) during Thursday's preseason win over the Patriots and caught his only target for 19 yards. However, the 6-foot-3 wideout presumably tweaked his leg during the contest and will miss some time. If he doesn't return to practice over the next few days, Wayne likely won't be able to suit up for next Saturday's exhibition against the Dolphins.
