Lions' Trinity Benson: Placed on IR
Benson (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Benson suffered a knee injury in Week 10 versus the Bears and was forced out of the contest early, and he will now be forced to miss at least four weeks while on IR. Benson was signed off the Broncos' practice squad Nov. 9 and was forced out with a knee injury during his Lions debut against the Bears on Sunday. The 25-year-old wideout has been sidelined for each of the first two practices to open Week 11, so it appears he's in line to remain out against the Giants this Sunday. Benson will have one more practice to improve his status before Friday's final injury report, or else Detroit's active roster could be limited to just four healthy wide receivers versus New York.

Lions' Trinity Benson: Forced out Sunday
Benson (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Bears.
Benson was making his season debut Sunday after being signed off the Broncos' practice squad Wednesday. However, the 25-year-old did not record a catch before injuring his knee in the second half, which forced him to head directly to Detroit's locker room, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. While the nature and severity of this issue are still unclear, Benson's next opportunity to play will come against the Giants on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Lions' Trinity Benson: Signed by Lions
Benson was signed by the Lions off of the Broncos' practice squad Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Benson was added by the Lions on Wednesday and will be a part of their active roster Sunday versus the Bears. The wide receiver appeared in eight games with Detroit in 2021, reeling in 10 catches for 103 yards on 22 targets. Benson has yet to play in a game this season and will have little to no impact offensively in Week 10.

Trinity Benson: Gets practice squad deal
Benson signed to the Broncos' practice squad Tuesday.
Benson was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent back in 2019, then spent two years off and on the team's practice squad. He ultimately ended up with the Lions via a trade in August of 2021, but he failed to make the team out of training camp this season when he was placed on IR with an undisclosed injury. However, Benson is now healthy and will look to contribute for Denver and work his way to the active roster.

Trinity Benson: Earns workout

Benson caught two of four targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 51-29 loss to the Seahawks.
Benson was one of three Lions receivers to set career highs in the receiving yardage department, but most of it was meaningless because Detroit was getting blown out before the first half ended. The East Central University product likely will move back down the depth chart if either of Josh Reynolds or Kalif Raymond is able to clear COVID-19 protocols in time for the Lions' Week 18 matchup with the Packers.

Lions' Trinity Benson: Could have larger role Sunday
Benson is expected to see an increased role within Detroit's receiving corps Sunday against the Seahawks with both Josh Reynolds (illness) and Kalif Raymond (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
No. 1 wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown and running backs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams are probably the safest bets to earn targets from quarterback Tim Boyle, but the likes of Benson, KhaDarel Hodge, Tom Kennedy and Javon McKinley could all see increased snaps with two starting receivers out of the lineup. Benson has played more than 29 percent of the Lions' offensive snaps in all seven of his appearances on the season, but he was a healthy inactive for three straight games before sitting out the Week 16 loss to Atlanta while he was on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
