Texans' Jarrett Patterson: Clears protocol
Patterson (concussion) was a full practice participant Friday and does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against Detroit.
Patterson was diagnosed with a concussion Week 8, which forced him out for the Week 9 loss to the Jets. He was a full practice participant all week, and after gaining clearance from an independent neurologist, he's exited the five-step concussion protocol. The 2023 sixth-round pick out of Notre Dame is expected to start at center while Juice Scruggs moves to left guard, replacing Kenyon Green (shoulder), who was placed on injured reserve.

Texans' Jarrett Patterson: Full go for Wednesday
Patterson (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
Patterson didn't play in Houston's Week 9 loss to the Jets due to a concussion sustained the week prior, but Wednesday's full practice indicates that he's almost past the issue. The second-year pro must still pass through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to suit up for the Texans' Week 10 matchup against the Lions.

Texans' Jarrett Patterson: Won't play in Week 9
Patterson (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday night's matchup against the Jets.
Patterson was unable to practice all week after sustaining a concussion in the Texans' Week 8 win over the Colts, so it's no surprise he won't suit up Thursday night. Expect 2022 first-round pick Kenyon Green to get the starting nod at left guard while Patterson is sidelined in Week 9.

Texans' Jarrett Patterson: Ruled out due to concussion
Patterson suffered a concussion during Sunday's Week 8 game against the Colts and has been ruled out from returning.
Patterson began the game on the bench but entered at left guard in the first half in place of the struggling Kenyon Green. However, with Patterson done for the day, Green has reentered the contest. The Texans play on Thursday Night Football in Week 9, so it might be difficult for Patterson to clear the NFL's concussion protocol in time to suit up for that game against the Jets.

Patterson (calf) was a full participant in Thursday's practice session.
Patterson was unable to play in Week 3 against the Vikings due to a calf injury he sustained during a practice session earlier in the week. He was limited in Wednesday's session, and his upgrade to full participation Thursday means that Patterson will, in all likelihood, be available for Sunday's AFC South showdown against the Jaguars.

Texans' Jarrett Patterson: Competing for starting role
Patterson (lower leg) is in the running for a potential starting role at left guard for the 2024 season, Sean Pendergast of Houston Press reports.
Presumably, Patterson has made a full recovery from the fractured fibula he sustained in October of last year and is back to participating in full during practice sessions. If healthy, 2022 first-rounder Kenyon Green is most likely to get the nod to start at left guard for the upcoming campaign, with Kendrick Green also in the running.

Texans' Jarrett Patterson: Won't return this season
Patterson (lower leg) is out for the remainder of the season, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Patterson was expected to miss between six and eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured fibula, which would put him in line to return in late December or early January. However, it appears that the Notre Dame will fall on the latter end of that timeline and ultimately not return in his rookie campaign.

Texans' Jarrett Patterson: To undergo surgery
Patterson will undergo surgery to repair a fractured fibula in his right leg, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
Patterson was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with what was described as an ankle injury. First and second opinions concluded there is a fracture of a nonweight bearing bone connected to the ankle, according to sources. Under a best-case scenario, the rookie center will miss between six and eight weeks. Michael Deiter will replace Patterson, who had stabilized the center position following injuries to Scott Quessenberry (knee) and Juice Scruggs (hamstring).
