Raiders' Zamir White: Backfield depth added by Las Vegas
White is the Raiders' expected starter at running back following the departure of Josh Jacobs, with the recently signed Alexander Mattison likely to serve as his top backup, according to Tashan Reed of The Athletic.
Once Jacobs headed to Green Bay, it seemed inevitable that the Raiders would fortify their running back corps, either through free agency, the draft, or both. In Mattison, the team adds a player who made 13 starts for the Vikings last season, but at this stage it appears as though White -- who had an impressive finish to the 2023 regular season -- has the inside track to lead Las Vegas' backfield in 2024. In such a scenario, White would maintain fantasy utility, though his upside in that regard could hinge on how much volume he cedes to Mattison, who has three-down experience. Meanwhile, Ameer Abdullah remains on hand to provide a change-of-pace presence, with Brittain Brown, Sincere McCormick and Tyreik McAllister also in the mix.

Raiders' Zamir White: Stands atop depth chart
White is situated as Las Vegas' top running back entering the new league year, with Josh Jacobs slated to ink a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
White is facing real opportunity atop the Raiders' depth chart after an impressive end to the 2023 campaign in which he averaged 114.3 yards from scrimmage per game across the team's last four contests, as Jacobs was sidelined. While Las Vegas still could add significant backfield competition via free agency or the 2024 NFL Draft, White currently has few established names behind him aside from special-teams ace Ameer Abdullah, whom the Raiders opted to re-sign. White's final numbers across 17 regular-season appearances in 2023 came to just 104 rushes for 451 yards and one touchdown, plus 15 catches for 98 yards on 19 targets, but the 2022 fourth-round pick has a clear path to a significantly increased workload looking ahead to the 2024 campaign.

Raiders' Zamir White: Tops 100 yards
White rushed 25 times for 112 yards and caught one of two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 27-14 win over the Broncos.
White started with Josh Jacobs (quadricep) sidelined again and turned in another strong performance. In fact, with an expanded role over Las Vegas' last four games, White averaged nearly 115 scrimmage yards. That production inflated his final numbers to 104 rushes for 451 yards and a touchdown to go with 15 grabs on 19 targets for 98 yards in 17 games. With Jacobs set to become an unrestricted free agent, it remains to be seen whether White will approach the 2024 campaign with a larger role for the Raiders.

Raiders' Zamir White: Likely to retain lead role Sunday
White is expected to remain the Raiders' lead back for Sunday's game against the Broncos with Josh Jacobs (quadricep) ruled out for a fourth straight game, Ezekiel Trezevant IV of SI.com reports.
While Jacobs has been sidelined for the previous three games, White has impressed in a workhorse role of the backfield, carrying 59 times for 285 yards (4.8 average) and one touchdown to go with eight catches for 51 yards on 11 targets over that stretch. With Jacobs out again for the season finale, look for the Raiders to once again lean heavily on the White-led ground attack, with reserve backs Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden likely to handle light roles behind the second-year player out of Georgia.
