  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Officially on IR

The Chargers placed Jackson (kneecap) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Jackson is done for the season after having suffered a ruptured patellar tendon Week 7, and he underwent surgery to address the injury Wednesday as reported by Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. The 26-year-old cornerback logged just five appearances after signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Charges this offseason, and his attention will now turn toward making a full recovery in time for the 2023 campaign. Michael Davis looks likely to take over for Jackson as a starting corner opposite Asante Samuel.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Out for season

Chargers coach Brandon Staley says that Jackson will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a ruptured patellar tendon Monday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Jackson suffered what was initially labeled as a dislocated right kneecap in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. However, an MRI exam revealed that this injury was much more significant, leaving the 26-year-old sidelined until at least the 2023 campaign. Jackson played just two full games after signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Chargers this offseason, as he was sidelined in Weeks 1 and 3 with a lingering ankle issue and was benched at halftime of a Week 6 loss to Denver. In his stead, Michael Davis should take over as the Bolts' starting cornerback opposite Asante Samuel.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Suffers dislocated kneecap

Jackson sustained a dislocated right kneecap during Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Jackson had an air cast on his right leg as he was carted off the field during Sunday's matchup, and his injury appears to be significant. He'll undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the injury, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss additional time.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Sustains knee injury

Jackson won't return to Sunday's game against the Seahawks due to a right knee injury.

Jackson went down with a non-contact injury shortly before halftime Sunday and had to be carted off the field. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but Michael Davis should see increased playing time while Jackson is sidelined.

  • Chargers' J.C. Jackson: Will remain starter

Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Wednesday that Jackson will start Sunday against the Seahawks, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Jackson was benched at halftime in favor of Michael Davis during the Chargers' Week 6 win over the Broncos on Monday Night Football. However, given Staley's comments, it appears the decision may have been simply matchup based. Regardless, fantasy managers should probably steer clear of Jackson for now.
