Davis participated in practice for the second consecutive day after being designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday. Davis -- who last saw game action in Week 15 -- now has a chance to be officially activated ahead of Sunday's NFC Championship Game versus Detroit.

The 49ers designated Davis (ankle) to return from injured reserve Wednesday.
The transaction opens up a 21-day window in which Davis can be evaluated in practice before he would have to be added back to the 53-man roster. Davis missed the final three weeks of the regular season as well as the 49ers' divisional-round playoff win over the Packers last weekend while recovering from a high-ankle sprain, but if he proves he's healthy in practice this week, he could be reinstated to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Lions in the NFC Championship Game.

Davis is a bigger body (6-foot-1, 302 pounds) that can eat up blocks in the middle, but he actually was a three-star linebacker recruit and started his first two seasons at linebacker with UCF before transitioning to the defensive line. An ACL injury ended his redshirt senior season early, but Davis is expected to be healthy in time for the 2022 campaign.
