Wims signed with the Panthers on Wednesday, Steve Reed of The Associated Press reports.
Wims will fill the spot vacated by the release of Marquez Stevenson (undisclosed) with a failed physical. In 34 NFL appearances split between Chicago and Arizona, Wims has 28 catches for 266 yards and two touchdowns.

Cardinals' Javon Wims: Cut by Arizona
Wims was released by the Cardinals on Thursday, Jess Root of USA Today reports.
Wims signed a reserve/future contract with the Cardinals this past January after working with their 2022 practice squad for the majority of the season. Since entering the NFL, the 2018 seventh-rounder has totaled 266 yards on 28 catches with two touchdowns over the course of 34 games.

The Cardinals signed Wims to a reserve/future contract Monday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Wims signed with the Cardinals' practice squad during Week 2 and was elevated for one game over the course of the season. However, he did not record a statistic during this Week 5 contest, and the 28-year-old now has not logged a target since the 2020 season. Wims will look to secure an active roster spot heading into the 2023 season.

Wims reverted to the Cardinals' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Wims was promoted to the active roster for the first time this season during Sunday's 19-9 loss to the Seahawks. However, 28-year-old was never targeted while playing five of Arizona's 71 offensive snaps. Wims will now be eligible for two more elevations while on the Cardinals' practice squad this season.

Wims will join Arizona's practice squad after the team also released fellow wideout JaVonta Payton on Thursday. The 28-year-old hauled in 28 of his 56 targets for 266 yards and two scores over 33 regular-season games with Chicago from 2018 to 2020, and he will likely serve as a potential gameday elevation for the Cardinals moving forward this season.

Wims garnered team highs in targets (nine), receptions (four) and receiving yards (41) during Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears, but he finds himself among the first wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. Wims (undisclosed) was removed from the active/non-football illness list Saturday, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Though it's unclear what illness Wims was dealing with, it seems to have been of little concern, as he's expected to resume practicing again soon. The 6-foot-4 receiver spent all of last season on the Raiders' practice squad, but he will attempt to participate in more in-game action this year with Cleveland. Wims is now playing for his third NFL team since he was drafted in 2018, and he will battle with Ja'Marcus Bradley, Michael Woods (knee) and Mike Harley for a roster spot.

It's unclear what Wims' illness is or when he might be expected to return.
