Dolphins' Jake Bailey: Staying in Miami
The Dolphins re-signed Bailey on a two-year, $4.2 million deal Friday, per Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com.
Bailey has extended his stay in Miami after coming over from New England last offseason. The All-Pro punter will make $2.1 annually over the next two seasons, but he can make up to $5 million in total with incentives. With kicker Jason Sanders also under contract through 2025, Miami is expected to retain two core special-teamers for years to come.

Dolphins' Jake Bailey: Headed to Miami
Bailey signed with the Dolphins on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The former Pro Bowler was released by the Patriots a week ago and will stay in the AFC East after landing a deal with the Dolphins. The 2019 fifth-round pick was suspended (and subsequently reinstated) by New England at the end of the 2022 regular season following a disagreement about his readiness to return from injured reserve, but he appears to have put the back issue from last year behind him and will look to return to form in Miami. Bailey is currently the only punter on the Dolphins' active roster, but they'll presumably add some competition ahead of training camp this summer.

Jake Bailey: Released by New England
The Patriots released Bailey (back) on Friday.
Bailey was suspended (and subsequently reinstated) by the Patriots at the end of the regular season following a disagreement with the team about his readiness to return from injured reserve. That the 2019 fifth-round pick was let go without an injury designation suggests he's fully recovered from the back issue that ended his 2022 campaign, but it's unclear how much attention he'll draw as a free agent this offseason.

Patriots' Jake Bailey: Removed from suspended list
The Patriots lifted Bailey's (back) suspension Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Bailey was shifted from New England's IR to the reserve/suspended list Friday following a disagreement with the team about his readiness to return from injured reserve. With the Patriots now eliminated from playoff contention, the 25-year-old punter will enter the offseason still on IR.

Patriots' Jake Bailey: Lands on suspended list
The Patriots placed Bailey (back) on the reserve/suspended list Friday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach Bill Belichick confirmed earlier Friday that Bailey will miss the rest of the season after the punter's 21-day window to return from injured reserve came to a close, so the move to the suspended list won't affect Bailey's status for Week 18. According to Reiss, Bailey received the suspension for his differing viewpoint from the team about his readiness to play. Bailey will lose out on two game checks as a result of the suspension, which could also threaten some of the guaranteed money he was due to receive on the four-year, $13.5 million extension he signed in August.

Patriots' Jake Bailey: Done for season
Bailey (back) will remain on injured reserve for the remainder of the season, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Head coach Bill Belichick confirmed Friday that Bailey is done for the year after his practice window expired. The 25-year-old will now shift his focus to being ready for the 2023 campaign. Michael Palardy will remain the Patriots' punter for the stretch run this season, which could include the postseason if the team qualifies.

Patriots' Jake Bailey: Designated to return from IR
New England designated Bailey (back) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Chris Mason of The Springfield Republican reports.
Bailey missed the minimum four games while on IR due to a back injury but returned to practice Wednesday, starting a 21-day clock for him to be added to the active roster. It's currently unclear if Bailey will be active for Week 16, but if he is, the Patriots will presumably move on from Michael Palardy, who'd been operating as the team's holder and punter over the past month.
