  • Tyrell Adams: Released by Jacksonville

The Jaguars released Adams on Monday.

Jacksonville signed Adams off the 49ers' practice squad late in 2021 after a number of the Jaguars linebackers went on the COVID-19 list. He only appeared in two games, but he was re-signed via a one-year deal in March. However, he won't make the initial 53-man roster in 2022. The veteran linebacker recorded 125 tackles in 2020, but he hasn't registered more than 20 in any other campaign.

  • Jaguars' Tyrell Adams: Sticks with Jacksonville

Adams signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Adams was signed by the Jaguars off the 49ers' practice squad at the end of December and appeared in two games for Jacksonville down the stretch. He played exclusively on special teams and totaled three tackles and two forced fumbles during his time with the Jaguars. He figures to garner a similar role during the 2022 season.

  • Jaguars' Tyrell Adams: Signs with Jacksonville

The Jaguars signed Adams to their active roster from the 49ers' practice squad Wednesday.

The Jaguars currently have eight linebackers away from the team due to COVID-19 protocols, so Adams will provide insurance in case any of them are ruled out for Week 17. The 29-year-old linebacker made five appearances for San Francisco this season, playing nearly exclusively on special teams.

  • Tyrell Adams: Jettisoned by Buffalo

Adams was one of five players cut by the Bills on Tuesday, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.

Adams at one point seemed to have a decent chance at landing a spot as a primary backup to starter Tremaine Edmunds, but the Bills place a heavy emphasis on special teams ability from their backups, and guys like Tyler Matakevich and Marquel Lee have Adams beat there.

  • Bills' Tyrell Adams: Will jockey for positioning

Adams, signed to a one-year deal by the Bills this offseason, will be one of several linebackers fighting for a roster spot, Jason Wolf of The Buffalo News reports.

Wolf surmises that four linebackers are locks for spots -- Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano, A.J. Klein and special teams stud Tyler Matakevich -- and from there it will be Adams and several others competing for one or two final spots. Adams probably has the best pedigree of the others -- he's played in the league for five seasons and posted 125 total tackles last season -- and has a similar skill set to Milano, who's fought frequent injuries in his career. Tyrel Dodson, Andre Smith, Joe Giles-Harris, Marquel Lee and Mike Bell are the others up for those 1-2 spots, with Dodson offering a good amount of experience in the Bills' system.

  • Bills' Tyrell Adams: Heading to Buffalo

Adams agreed to a contract with the Bills on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Adams enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2020 after Benardrick McKinney's season-ending shoulder injury thrust him into the starting lineup Week 4. While playing a near every-down role through the final 12 games of the year, Adams ended his third season with the Texans with a career-best 125 tackles (76 solo) plus two sacks and four pass breakups. Adams should get every chance to earn a consistent role in Buffalo, but he's unlikely to repeat every-down usage going forward. In that case, he won't be a lock for high-end fantasy production in IDP formats.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Well positioned for free agency

Adams will become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason.

Adams, in his third year in a Texans uniform, exploded in 2020 when he took over at inside linebacker following Benardrick McKinney's season-ending shoulder injury in Week 4. Adams recorded double-digit tackles in six of 12 starts and finished with 125 tackles, second only to Zach Cunningham. The 28-year-old significantly enhanced his marketability, although there is not a long track record. Prior to 2020, Adams appeared in 21 games over four NFL seasons.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Second-leading tackler in loss

Adams collected seven total tackles during Sunday's 10-7 loss to Cleveland.

In what was by far Houston's lowest-scoring affair of the 2020 campaign, the Browns punished the Texans front to the tune of 231 rushing yards and one rushing score on 41 team carries. Adams reached seven or more tackles for the fifth consecutive outing, registering yet another start in place of the injured Benardrick McKinney (shoulder). With McKinney already ruled out for the remainder of the 2020 campaign, expect Adams to continue racking up respectable tackle totals as a fill-in for the Texans' front seven.

Adams led Houston with 12 tackles in Sunday's 27-25 win over Jacksonville.

Adams has filled up the stat sheet since taking over for the injured Benardrick McKinney (shoulder). For the third time in four games since McKinney's injury, Adams recorded double-digit stops at inside linebacker. It wasn't all good for the linebacker; he dropped an interception that might've gone for a touchdown.

Adams has 25 total tackles through six games this season, though it's only the past two contests in which he's played major defensive snaps. He could be a solid IDP option if he continues the current level of production.

Adams, who also appeared in both of the team's playoff games, will become an unrestricted free agent in March.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Inactive against Ravens

Adams (coach's decision) is inactive for Week 11.

Adams' role likely would have been restricted to special teams if he suited up, so his absence should not negatively impact Houston's defensive performance. Benardrick McKinney, per usual, figures to get the starting nod at middle linebacker.
