New England signed Sherfield to the practice squad Tuesday.
Sherfield appeared in 12 combined regular-season games between the Broncos and Cardinals in 2025, in which span he totaled three catches for 21 yards on five targets. The veteran wideout will now provide New England with additional depth in preparation for Sunday's divisional-round matchup against Houston.

Sherfield reverted to the Cardinals' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Sherfield was elevated to the active roster for the second straight week ahead of Sunday's 40-20 loss to the Texans, failing to record any stats while playing 14 snaps on offense and 17 snaps with the special-teams unit. The wide receiver helped fill in for Marvin Harrison (heel) and Xavier Weaver (hamstring), who were both unavailable in Week 15, as well as for fellow wideout Andre Baccellia (neck) was stretchered off the field late in the second quarter. Sherfield was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans.
Sherfield will be on the active roster for the second game in a row after he was called up for last week's loss to the Rams, when he tallied one target across nine offensive snaps. The 29-year-old should once again serve as Arizona's fourth wideout behind Michael Wilson, Andre Baccellia and fellow practice-squad elevation Jalen Brooks. Meanwhile, Marvin Harrison (heel) and Xavier Weaver (hamstring) will both remain sidelined. Sherfield will be eligible for one more practice-squad elevation with the Cardinals this season.

Sherfield got his first elevation since joining Arizona in mid-November for Sunday's loss to the Rams and played nine of 62 offensive snaps, fourth most among Cardinals wideouts. The veteran wideout from Vanderbilt was cut by the Broncos on Saturday, but he's already found a new home in Arizona. Sherfield appeared in all of Denver's first 10 games this season, catching three of four targets for 21 yards across 311 total snaps (164 on offense, 147 on special teams). Sherfield did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to a toe issue; however, the injury doesn't appear to be severe, as he was able to practice Thursday without limitations. Given his full practice, he should be available for Sunday's AFC West clash against the Chiefs. Sherfield caught three passes (on four targets) for 21 yards through the first five games of the regular season, but he has not recorded a target over the Broncos' last five games.
