Ryan Connelly: Dealing with injury again
The Saints placed Connelly on their practice-squad injured list with an undisclosed issue Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Connelly was previously placed on the practice-squad injured list after he sustained a knee injury Week 1 and subsequently underwent surgery. The 28-year-old was then restored to the practice squad Oct. 24, but he is now dealing with an injury once again. Connelly started three of four games in 2019 before suffering a torn ACL. It's surprising that the Giants opted to let him go, but perhaps he lost a step due to the injury. Considering he recorded 20 tackles, a sack and two interceptions over just 195 defensive snaps last season, Connelly probably has strong football instincts, so another team could scoop him off waivers and give him a chance.

Connelly (knee) has been cleared to participate in the start of training camp, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.
Connelly tore his ACL last September, but it looks like his health is back up to par just in time for training camp. He recorded 19 tackles (nine solo), one sack and two interceptions in just four games as a rookie last season before suffering the injury. Barring any setbacks, he projects to be in the linebacker rotation for the Giants in 2020.
