Charcandrick West: Released by Colts
West was released by the Colts on Saturday, John Breech of CBS Sports reports.
West had an abbreviated training camp with the Colts, having only originally signed with the team Aug. 19, and was unable to crack a crowded running back depth chart. Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins will likely be the trio handling the majority of Indianapolis' running game.

Colts' Charcandrick West: Strong first impression
West rushed 13 times for 43 yards and a touchdown while catching all three of his targets for 27 yards in Saturday's 27-17 preseason loss to the Bears.
West immediately got a chance to introduce himself to his new club with a heavy workload, and he probably did enough to put himself in position to make the roster given all the injuries to Indianapolis' other depth running backs. His touchdown came from 10 yards out in the first quarter.

Colts' Charcandrick West: Joining Colts
West signed with the Colts on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
The Colts will add some veteran depth after losing Spencer Ware (ankle) and D'Onta Foreman (undisclosed) to injuries. West doesn't offer much juice as a runner, but his experience and pass-game skills could allow him to push Jordan Wilkins (foot) and Jonathan Williams (rib) for the No. 3 job. For all their backfield injuries the past few weeks, the Colts at least have managed to keep the important players (Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines) healthy.

Charcandrick West: Works out for Raiders
West had a tryout with the Raiders on Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
The Raiders brought in a pair of veteran backs (West and Robert Turbin) for an audition, looking to fill out the backfield ahead of the offseason program. West himself is coming off a campaign in which he was released by the Chiefs in August, spent one preseason game with the Jets before being a roster casualty on cut-down day, and then returned to the Chiefs after Kareem Hunt was jettisoned. If West impresses Oakland's brass enough to earn a contract, he may have a difficult time landing on the final 53-man roster with Isaiah Crowell, Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington all in the fold.

Chiefs' Charcandrick West: Minimal impact in short season
West finished Week 17 against the Raiders with one carry for a loss of two yards.
Even in the midst of a blowout, West took the field for just 10 snaps and has played a total of 30 in the past three games combined. Irrespective of whether Spencer Ware (hamstring) is ready for the playoff run, West is unlikely to make much of an impact with both Damien and Darrel Williams ahead of him on the depth chart. West finished his abbreviated regular season with the Chiefs with just two carries for one yard and two catches for 37 yards and a touchdown on three targets. His contract expires following the season, so there is no guarantee West will remain with the team in 2019.

Chiefs' Charcandrick West: Records receiving score
West carried the ball just once for one yard in Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Seahawks. However, he also added two receptions for 37 yards and a score.
While West remained clearly behind Damien Williams on the running back depth chart, his offensive snap count jumped up to 19. He took advantage by hauling in a 25-yard receiving score, his first time reaching the end zone since Week 15 of the 2017 season. Though his role is not robust, West does have some intrigue heading into Week 17 so long as Spencer Ware (hamstring) remains sidelined as he'll see a positive matchup against the Raiders. In addition, he's tethered to one of the most explosive offenses in the league, which benefited his performance in Week 16.

Chiefs' Charcandrick West: Minimal showing in season debut
West saw just one snap from scrimmage and four on four special teams during Thursday's game against the Chargers.
West was inactive in Week 14 after signing with the Chiefs, but Spencer Ware's (hamstring) absence afforded him an opportunity to dress for the first time this season Thursday. Despite suiting up, West appears to be well behind Damien and Darrel Williams in the pecking order for offensive snaps. He could fall even further off the radar if Ware is cleared to return in Week 16.

Chiefs' Charcandrick West: Suits up Thursday
West is active for Thursday night's game against the Chargers, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
This will be the recently re-signed West's first game for the Chiefs this season, but he has ample experience in the team's offense, having been with Kansas City from the 2015 season through the 2017 campaign. Look for him to work in a complementary role Thursday behind Damien Williams, who is starting in place of Spencer Ware (hamstring).

Chiefs' Charcandrick West: Inactive for Week 14
West (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
After releasing Kareem Hunt last week, the Chiefs added West to the roster to shore up their backfield depth. West, who suited up in 49 regular-season contests for Kansas City over the past four seasons, won't need much time to get reacquainted with coach Andy Reid's scheme, but the veteran may represent more of an insurance policy than someone on whom the Chiefs are counting to contribute. Starter Spencer Ware, and reserves Damien Williams and Darrel Williams will dress Sunday while West remains in street clothes.

Charcandrick West: May reunite with Chiefs
West and fellow running back C.J. Anderson are scheduled to visit the Chiefs on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Anderson is the bigger name and the more talented runner, but West has a huge advantage in scheme familiarity, having previously played for Andy Reid's Chiefs from 2014 to 2017. He didn't show any hint of explosiveness during that time, averaging 3.8 yards on 266 carries and 7.4 yards on 75 receptions, albeit with a stretch of fantasy relevance during the middle part of the 2015 campaign. West was released by the Chiefs on Aug. 22 and then cut by the Jets on Sept. 1. He could be useful on passing downs in Kansas City, who release Kareem Hunt on Friday and saw Spencer Ware manage just 3.4 YPC against the Raiders on Sunday.

Charcandrick West: Expected to join Chiefs
West is expected to sign with the Chiefs this week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Chiefs apparently prefer West to C.J. Anderson, who also was brought in for a visit Monday. The team presumably will give Spencer Ware another shot in a lead role, but West's familiarity with the offense could make him an immediate option as a change-of-pace back or passing-down specialist. The team does also have Damien Williams and Darrel Williams in the backfield, so there's no guarantee West earns a significant role.

West signed with the Chiefs on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
West was released by the Chiefs in August after playing 49 games for the team from 2014 to 2017. He briefly caught on with the Jets late in the preseason, but he was released at the beginning of September and has been a free agent ever since. West's experience working with Andy Reid could allow for a game appearance as soon as Week 14 against Baltimore, but there isn't much reason to expect the 27-year-old to handle anything more than a chance-of-pace role. West owns career averages of 3.8 yards on 266 carries and 7.4 yards on 75 catches, while teammate Spencer Ware has produced 4.6 YPC and 11.5 YPR. The Chiefs also have 26-year-old Damien Williams and undrafted rookie Darrel Williams as options in the backfield.
