Texans' Chris Smith: Signed to active roster
The Texans signed Smith to their active roster Thursday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Smith was elevated from the Texans' practice squad for their Week 14 matchup against Seattle, but he'll now land a contract to join the 53-man roster. Jonathan Greenard (illness), Derek Rivers (illness) and Jacob Martin (illness) were all placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list recently, so Smith could draw the start in Sunday's Week 16 matchup against the Chargers.

Texans' Chris Smith: Promoted to active roster
Smith was added to the Texans' active roster a head of Week 14 against the Seahawks, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Smith got the call from the practice squad with Jonathan Greenard (foot) looking iffy for the game against Seattle. He made his season debut in last week's loss to the Colts and did not have a tackle in 21 defensive snaps.

Ravens' Chris Smith: Lands with Baltimore
Smith signed a one-year deal with the Ravens on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Last year, Smith played in eight games after being elevated from the Raiders' practice squad. The 29-year-old has spent time with the Jaguars, Bengals, Browns and Raiders during his seven-year career, registering a season-high three sacks on two occasions.

Raiders' Chris Smith: Promoted to active roster
Smith was promoted to the Raiders' active roster from the practice squad Saturday, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The 28-year-old spent training camp with the Raiders and was let go at roster cutdowns, but he remained with the organization on the practice squad. Smith should now fill a reserve role at defensive end for Las Vegas.

Smith played a reserve role in Cleveland for the last two years, totaling 22 tackles and three pass breakups over 25 games. There's steep competition in front of him in Carolina, so he's far from a lock to make Carolina's roster once the preseason concludes.
