Texans' Ronald Darby: Finds work in Houston
Darby signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Texans on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The 10-year NFL veteran was released by the Jaguars in early March after signing a two-year, $8.5 million deal with the team last offseason. However, Darby has quickly found a new home in Houston. He appeared in 13 games for Jacksonville in 2024, logging 46 total tackles and nine passes defended over 615 defensive snaps. Now with the Texans, Darby is expected to provide veteran leadership and depth in the secondary.

Ronald Darby: To be released by Jacksonville
Darby is slated to be released by the Jaguars, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The veteran cornerback played in 13 games, started 12 and recorded 46 tackles (36 solo) and nine pass breakups in his first season in Jacksonville. Darby did sign a two-year, $8.5-million deal last March, but the Jaguars' secondary also struggled in 2024, making it likely that the team will seek help this offseason. Darby's release is also part of a larger set of cost-cutting moves by the Jags, which includes trading Christian Kirk and cutting Evan Engram, as the team tries to add cap space in the first year of a new regime.

Darby racked up 46 tackles (36 solo) and nine pass breakups across 13 regular-season appearances with the Jaguars in 2024. He started 12 of those contests.
Darby played a significant role in his inaugural season with Jacksonville, and he has one more year remaining on his deal with the team. Given the struggles this secondary displayed in 2024, though, it would be surprising if the Jaguars enter the 2025 campaign without some additions to the cornerback room.

Jaguars' Ronald Darby: Past hip injury
Darby (hip) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice session.
Darby played just nine defensive snaps against the Packers on Sunday after injuring his hip in the first quarter. However, it appears the injury isn't severe enough for him to miss the Jaguars' first practice of the week, and barring any setbacks, he should suit up against the Eagles on Sunday. Darby has logged 34 tackles (27 solo) and five pass breakups over eight regular-season outings.

Jaguars' Ronald Darby: Hurts hip against Green Bay
Darby injured his hip against the Packers in Sunday's Week 8 matchup and is questionable to return, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Darby's injury occurred in the first quarter, and he subsequently consulted with trainers on the side of the field. The veteran cornerback has been a key component of the Jaguars' secondary this season, logging at least 70 percent of the defensive snaps in each of the team's first seven contests. Montaric Brown and/or Deantre Prince could absorb Darby's snaps Sunday if he's unable to return.
