Tapper (undisclosed) was waived by the Jets on Tuesday with a non-football injury, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
The 26-year-old spent the duration of the 2019 season on the Non-Football Injury List, and he's apparently still recovering from the unspecified issue. Tapper should return to the NFI list if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Tapper's only regular-season NFL action has come in two 2017 games with the Cowboys, a stretch during which the Oklahoma product logged three total tackles and a sack over 36 defensive snaps. The 26-year-old signed with the Jets on Jan. 5, but he'll now have to look elsewhere to continue his professional career. However, a potential NFI designation would make that search a bit trickier.

Cowboys' Charles Tapper: Headed for surgery
Tapper will undergo surgery on his broken foot later this week and is expected to be out 10-12 weeks, The Dallas Morning News reports.
While this is yet another setback for the 2016 fourth-round pick, the timing is nearly perfect for the Cowboys, who can free up a roster spot for the returning David Irving (suspension) by placing Tapper on IR. The defensive end from Oklahoma still has the physical tools to make an impact at some point, but Tapper will have to wait until next season to try and prove he can stay healthy and contribute to the Dallas pass rush.

From the looks of things, Tapper seemed much more explosive than his usual self and was disruptive on the defensive side of the ball.
