  • Zach Line: Calls it a career

Line (knee) announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Line played seven seasons in the NFL after going undrafted out of SMU in 2013, and his final three years were spent with the Saints. He appeared in 12 contests in 2019 before a knee injury sidelined him, recording seven carries for 20 yards and six catches for 36 yards across that span. He did most of his offensive damage as a blocker. Following Line's departure, Ricky Ortiz is the only true fullback on New Orleans' roster.

  • Saints' Zach Line: Totals 13 touches in 2019

Line (knee) rushed seven times for 20 yards and caught six of 10 targets for 36 yards while suiting up in 12 regular-season contests in 2019.

The SMU product saw a smattering of touches across the season, but he primarily worked as a blocker in front of Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray whenever he saw the field on offense. Line failed to record a touchdown for the first time in three years with New Orleans, though his receptions and receiving yards were the most since he joined the team in 2017. A knee injury kept Line out of the Saints' regular-season finale as well as the team's wild-card loss to the Vikings, but he should be back to full strength in advance of OTAs.

  • Saints' Zach Line: Won't play Sunday

Line (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's playoff game against Minnesota, Chris Corso of the Vikings' official site reports.

Line missed Week 17 with the knee injury and was unable to practice this week, so he won't be available for the playoff opener. The Saints will be without a true fullback Sunday, though backup tight end Josh Hill could still work as a backfield blocker.

Line (knee) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.

Line missed the season finale against the Panthers with the knee issue and appears in jeopardy of missing the Wild Card playoff round. The team signed fellow fullback Rick Ortiz on Dec. 28, suggesting there is serious concern for Line's status heading into the playoffs.

  • Saints' Zach Line: Sidelined for Week 17

Line (knee) won't suit up in Sunday's season finale against the Panthers, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Line was a late add to the injury report Friday after he failed to suit up in practice. Now that he's officially out Sunday, his absence will likely mean more time for Latavius Murray or depth tight end Josh Hill on offense.

Line (knee) was limited in practice Thursday.

  • Saints' Zach Line: Catches two passes in loss

Line corralled both of his targets for five yards in the Saints' 26-9 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.

The fullback saw some limited run with a couple of grabs in Sunday's loss. He's not a regular part of New Orleans' offense game-plan -- having totaled just seven touches on the year -- and he isn't on the fantasy radar, even in the deepest of leagues.

  • Saints' Zach Line: Scores another touchdown

Line gained four yards on one carry and caught one pass for a one-yard touchdown in Sunday's win against the Buccaneers.

Line (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
