Da'Norris Searcy: Cut by Carolina
The Panthers released Searcy on Monday.
Searcy has 58 NFL starts to his name, including two last year for the Panthers before concussion symptoms brought his season to an early end. Rashaan Gaulden now becomes a clear favorite to start alongside Eric Reid at safety in Carolina, while the 30-year-old Searcy may need to compete for a roster spot elsewhere. Reid is the safest bet for IDP production in the Panthers secondary.

Panthers' Da'Norris Searcy: Recovery remains on track
Searcy (concussion) will play during the 2019 season, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Searcy played only two games in 2018 as his season was derailed by concussions. However, he's on track to get healthy and return for 2019. Panthers' Da'Norris Searcy: Will remain on injured reserve
Searcy's (concussion) practice period to return expired Wednesday, which will keep him on injured reserve for the rest of the season, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.
Searcy was designated to return off injured reserve Nov. 28, and the Panthers had 21 days to make a decision on whether to return him to the active roster. The 30-year-old sustained the concussion Week 2 at Atlanta and will finish the season with five tackles in two games.

Panthers' Da'Norris Searcy: Won't return Week 14
Searcy (concussion) won't be activated off injured reserve for Sunday's game at Cleveland, Bryan Strickland of the Panthers' official site reports.
Searcy was designated to return off injured reserve last week but will have to wait at least another week before returning to game action. The Panthers have until Dec. 19 to bring the 30-year-old onto the 53-man roster or he will revert to injured reserve for the rest of the season.

Searcy returned to practice this week and was designated to return by the Panthers, so it's not surprising they want some more time to evaluate him in practice. The 30-year-old has a 21-day window to be activated from the day he was designated to return (Nov. 28), so there's still plenty of time before a decision needs to be made.

Searcy landed on injured reserve after suffering the concussion Week 2 against the Falcons and is eligible to return this week, though he has yet to officially be given the IR-return designation. If the 30-year-old is designated to return, he would then have a 21-day practice window in which he could be activated or he will remain on IR for the duration of the season. The Panthers signed Eric Reid to start at safety opposite Mike Adams after Searcy was placed on IR, so the team can remain cautious with his return.

The Panthers placed Searcy on injured reserve after he suffered two concussions within 30 days of each other, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
It'll be a big loss for the Panthers, as Searcy combined for 70 defensive snaps through the first two weeks and made five tackles in the process. Expect Colin Jones to see an uptick in snaps.

Searcy took a blow to the head in the first quarter of Friday's tilt and headed to the locker room with some of the training staff. Panthers' Da'Norris Searcy: Inks deal with Carolina
Searcy signed a two-year contract with the Panthers on Friday, Bryan Strickland of the team's official site reports.
Searcy, who can make up to $5.7 million on this new deal per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, was let go by the Titans earlier this month after spending most of the 2017 season in a reserve role. He'll have the opportunity to regain starter status in Carolina with the Panthers looking to find a replacement for Kurt Coleman. The durable Searcy, who's missed only five games in his seven professional seasons, averaged 53.3 tackles and 4.7 pass breakups per season while serving as a starter for the Titans and Bills from 2014-16.

Titans' Da'Norris Searcy: Released by Titans
Searcy was released by the Titans on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
A starter throughout much of his career, Searcy was relegated to a backup role for the majority of 2017 after the Titans acquired Johnathan Cyprien in the offseason. Tennessee will save nearly $4 million against the 2018 cap with this transaction, and Searcy can scour the market for another chance to start. He hasn't been a useful IDP since leaving Buffalo after the 2014 campaign.
