Scott Tolzien: Moves to coaching
Tolzien retired from professional football earlier in the offseason and will serve as an analyst for the University of Wisconsin football team in 2019, Jason Galloway of the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
Tolzien was selected by the Birmingham Iron of the now-defunct AAF in November but opted to retire before the start of training camp. The 32-year-old last appeared in the NFL in 2017 as a backup for the Colts and will finish his career with 1,065 passing yards, two touchdowns and nine interceptions in 10 games.

Scott Tolzien: Taken in AAF draft
Tolzien's name was among the quarterbacks called off during Tuesday's Alliance of American Football draft, Kevin Seifert of ESPN reports.
Tolzien last played in the NFL during the 2017 season as a backup for the Colts, but the veteran will take a shot at spring ball with hopes of winning the starting job and getting a chance to impress NFL scouts in the spring. Tolzien hasn't seen much success in the NFL when under center, posting a 2:9 TD:INT ratio in the 10 regular-season games in which he's appeared.

Colts' Scott Tolzien: Officially set for backup duties in Week 2
The Colts officially named Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, leaving Tolzien to serve in the backup role, Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports.
Though Brissett has been with the Colts for less than a month after being acquired from the Patriots prior to final roster cuts, Tolzien performed poorly enough as starter in the team's embarrassing loss to the Rams in Week 1 for coach Chuck Pagano to go in a different direction. If Andrew Luck's shoulder injury keeps him sidelined for the foreseeable future and Brissett fails to ignite the offense or succumbs to an injury, it's possible that Tolzien gets another look as the team's signal caller, but he's unlikely to yield promising results in that scenario. For his career, the 30-year-old Tolzien owns a mediocre 61.6 quarterback rating and a 2:9 TD:INT ratio.
