Titans vs. Colts score: Derrick Henry, Tennessee sweep season series vs. Indy for second consecutive season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans strengthened their hold on the AFC South as they defeated the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, 19-10. Tennessee jumped out to a 13-0 lead by the halftime break thanks to a 76-yard pick six thrown by Matt Ryan, and didn't look back.

Ryan Tannehill completed 13 of 20 passes for 132 yards. He suffered what appeared to be a lower leg injury on the first play of the fourth quarter, and was replaced by rookie Malik Willis for one play. Tannehill returned to the game, although he had a very obvious limp. Derrick Henry then took over on offense, and he finished with 128 rushing yards on 30 carries.

New Titans tight end Austin Hooper took "National Tight Ends Day" to heart, as he put together his best performance of the season, catching three passes for 56 yards. He made a wild bobbling catch in the fourth quarter that stole a challenge away from Colts head coach Frank Reich.

For Indy, the offense had a rough day. Ryan was under pressure constantly, and threw interceptions on back-to-back possessions in the second quarter. He finished completing 33 of 44 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Colts wideout Parris Campbell had himself a day, as he caught a career-high 10 passes for 70 yards and the Colts' lone touchdown. Star running back Jonathan Taylor on the other hand rushed just 10 times for 58 yards.

The Colts will return to Indianapolis next week, and host the Washington Commanders. As for the Titans, they will hit the road to take on another divisional rival in the Houston Texans.

Colts go three-and-out after three straight passes. This crowd was LOUD. Pretty interesting that Indy went three straight passes to open this one up. I like the calls even though it didn't work out.

Titans can muster just 9 yards on five plays on their first drive. A couple negative plays from Henry put Tennessee in a hole, and then Tannehill was sacked on third down. The offensive line play hasn't been good early.

Titans giving a few different looks on offense to start the game. Pretty interesting. Henry was split out wide before making his way to the backfield and then taking the handoff on second down.

This matchup is interesting in several different ways. What I'm really looking at is how the Colts attack on offense. Jonathan Taylor is the engine that makes this offense go, but if you ask me, how you defeat the Titans is by attacking their cornerbacks. Matt Ryan passed the ball 58 times last week, and Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce balled out because of it.

Taylor is returning this week, but he was held in check by the Titans a few weeks ago. I want to see how this offense will choose to operate.

This matchup features two of the best backs in the game, although 2022 hasn't exactly been kind to them.

Derrick Henry: career-low 3.9 yards per rush this season

Jonathan Taylor: career-low 4.0 yards per rush this season

Derrick Henry: 3,372 rush yards since 2020 (most in NFL)

Jonathan Taylor: 3,308 rush yards since 2020 (2nd-most in NFL)

The Titans have won 4 straight meetings vs Colts (their longest win streak in series history)

Titans defeated Colts 24-17 in Week 4 as 4-point road underdog

  • Tannehill: 2-0 TD-INT | Henry: 114 rush yards, TD

  • Jonathan Taylor: 2.1 yards per rush (42 yards on 20 rushes)

    • Fewest yards per rush in any game since 2020

The Titans aren't a pass-heavy team, but this is still pretty incredible. 4 WRs today: the veteran Robert Woods, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and then two practice squad guys in Cody Hollister and Mason Kinsey. Hollister has been active every game this season, but has caught just one pass for 22 yards.

Hello from sunny Nashville. The atmosphere is pretty incredible in the Music City today, as the Titans are hosting their homecoming. Many former Titans and Oilers players are here as is NFL commissioner Roger Goodell! He was seen speaking to Titans head coach Mike Vrabel on the sidelines.
