After sitting out the entire 2015 season due to a suspension, it looks like Josh Gordon is hoping to get back on the field in 2016.

According to NFL.com, the suspended Browns receiver met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday, and the two men talked about Gordon's potential reinstatement. The Browns receiver has been out of the league since he was hit with a one-year suspension in February 2015.

The suspension was the third one of Gordon's career. The Browns receiver was also suspended for two games in 2013 and 11 games in 2014. The 2014 suspension combined a 10-game punishment from the NFL, and a one-game punishment from the Browns.

Gordon had a chance to get reinstated in March of 2016, but that fell through when he turned in a diluted sample on a drug test, which is the same as failed test in the eyes of the NFL.

As things stand, Gordon is allowed to apply for reinstatement again on Aug. 1, which is why he met with Goodell. The receiver has even been doing his best to stay in football shape.

Although Gordon will be eligible for reinstatement, it doesn't mean that it's going to happen.

According to ESPN.com, Goodell is unlikely to make any sort of decision on Gordon's status before the start of the 2016 season. Before Gordon potentially gets reinstated, Goodell wants to see the Browns receiver go 60-to-90 days without a failed or "red-flagged" test.

The Browns clearly aren't expecting to have Gordon in 2016, which is a big reason why they took a total of four receivers -- Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Rashard Higgins and Jordan Payton -- during the NFL Draft.

Gordon has been keeping a low profile for the past few months, which is a big change for him. As recently as April, he was spotted at Coachella with Johnny Manziel, which came just weeks after both were spotted in a Los Angeles rental home that was allegedly destroyed to the tune of $30,000.
