The Patriots have released injury-prone running back Leon Washington, according to a report from ESPN.com Saturday. Washington has not appeared in a game since Oct. 6 due to ankle troubles, and had just one carry for 1 yard in two games with the Patriots on the season.
The Patriots added defensive back Justin Green from the practice squad to take Washington's place on the 53-man roster.
