Injury ends Goff's season -- again: Linebacker Jonathan Goff tore the ACL in his right knee on Saturday, the same injury he suffered last September with the New York Giants. The Redskins later released him and signed offensive lineman Jordan Black, who has made 40 career starts but only 11 since 2006. He did not play last season. The Redskins could have used the veteran depth at inside linebacker. Lorenzo Alexander is the most veteran backup, but this is the first summer he’s worked exclusively at ILB. Bryan Kehl and rookie Keenan Robinson also are among the backups.

Rookie report: CB Richard Crawford continues to make plays in training camp. He intercepted a Kirk Cousins pass in the flat, tipping it in the air and grabbing it as he fell. Crawford also intercepted a pass Saturday, and he looks like he knows what he's doing in coverage. He’s off to a good start.

Steamrolled: OT Willie Smith suffered a knee injury after getting rolled over in a one-on-one blocking drill vs. LB Rob Jackson. On the rush, Jackson bulled into Smith and simply drove him back. Regardless of the injury, the play did not look good for Smith, who is trying to earn a starting job at RT with Brown sidelined. Such plays, albeit in a one-on-one drill, won’t help his case.

RG3 update: There was no doubt Robert Griffin III could run, but he doesn’t just save his legs for big plays on offense. He made one chasing down Kehl after a fumble Monday. Kehl picked up a loose ball at the 5-yard line and headed downfield with an army of blockers. Griffin hesitated, not thinking it was a fumble. Then he took off and pushed Kehl out of bounds before the goal-line. He chased him down, he said, “because I could.”

Star sightings: Singer Wale visited Redskins Park Monday. Wale, a native Washingtonian, is a big Redskins fan. “Hopefully we can get some more celebrity fans out here, aka Durant, to support us,” Griffin said. Yes, Kevin Durant is another Washington native. But he’s a little busy right now in London.
