Top Santi Aldama News

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Returns to bench

Aldama isn't in the starting five for Wednesday's game against the Thunder, Steve McGehee of News 9 Oklahoma City reports.

Aldama will be replaced by Jaren Jackson in the starting five Wednesday. Aldama is averaging 9.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in 35.3 minutes across 23 games this season.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Crafty double-double in win

Aldama finished with 18 points (8-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 34 minutes during Monday's 101-93 victory over the Heat.

Aldama came through for anyone who managed to stream him in, delivering his best performance in almost a month. With Jaren Jackson (rest) given the night off, Aldama stepped in as the starter, compiling just his third double-double of the season. While it was a strong performance, Jackson should return for the next game, sending Aldama back to the bench.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Gets chance with first unit

Aldama is starting Monday's game against Miami.

Aldama is set to draw his first start since Nov. 20, when he finished with eight points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal over 21 minutes. He should see plenty of chances with both Jaren Jackson (foot) and Jake LaRavia (foot) out.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Solid rebounding effort

Aldama produced five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks over 18 minutes during Sunday's 122-112 victory over the Pistons.

Aldama didn't do much in terms of scoring, but he turned in his best rebounding performance since Nov. 18 and also flashed his ability to protect the rim. He's swatted away five shots over his last two contests to go along with 12 total boards and eight assists.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Bit of everything in win

Aldama supplied 13 points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, three assists and three blocks over 22 minutes during Friday's 117-109 win over the 76ers.

Aldama supplied double-digit scoring for the first time since Nov 18. He also put forth his sixth contest this season with multiple blocks. The 21-year-old is averaging 7.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals-plus-blocks in 18.8 minutes per game over his last five appearances.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Off injury report

Aldama (illness) is off the injury report for Sunday's game against the Knicks.

Aldama will be back in the rotation following a one-game absence. His role has been reduced since the return of Jaren Jackson, but Aldama is still averaging a solid 9.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 21.3 minutes across the past four games, giving him some viability in deep leagues.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Officially out

Aldama (illness) will not play in Friday's game against the Pelicans.

The Grizzlies will be shorthanded in the frontcourt Friday without Aldama and Xavier Tillman (illness), meaning Jaren Jackson, Steven Adams (illness) and Brandon Clarke will be relied upon heavily. Aldama's next chance to play will come Sunday against the Knicks.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Doubtful vs. Pelicans

Aldama is doubtful for Friday's game against the Pelicans due to a non-COVID illness.

Aldama is expected to miss his first game of the season. In his presumed absence, more minutes should be available for Brandon Clarke, Jake LaRavia and other frontcourt options.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Quiet night despite spot start

Aldama chipped in eight points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 21 minutes during Sunday's 127-115 loss to the Nets.

Aldama replaced Jaren Jackson (injury management) in the starting lineup but failed to capitalize. After a nice start to the season, Aldama has fallen by the wayside when it comes to putting up fantasy value, barely putting up top 150 value over the past week. Outside of sporadic streaming value, he is fine to move on from in competitive formats for now.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Balanced performance to lead bench

Aldama posted 15 points (4-9 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes during Friday's 121-110 win over the Thunder.

Aldama recorded a balanced outing in Friday's win, finishing with a team-high scoring total off the bench while posting his eighth double-digit point total of the season. Aldama has tallied 15 or more points with five or more rebounds three times this year.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Not starting Tuesday

Aldama isn't in the starting five Tuesday against New Orleans, Rob Fischer of Bally Sports Southeast reports.

With Jaren Jackson returning to the lineup, Aldama will come off the bench. The forward has averaged 9.8 points and 27.7 minutes across 14 previous starts.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Locks in from three

Aldama amassed 15 points (6-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal across 29 minutes during Sunday's 102-92 loss to Washington.

Aldama scored nine of his 15 points from beyond the arc and knocked down three triples for just the second time in 14 games this season. He's finished in double figures in back-to-back contests but certainly isn't a lock to do so on a consistent basis. It is good to see Aldama put in work on the glass, collecting seven or more rebounds in four of his last five matchups.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Solid in win

Aldama logged 12 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one block and two steals over 34 minutes during Friday's 114-103 win over Minnesota.

Aldama returned to double-digit scoring, but he brushed up against his ceiling, as he hasn't exceeded 12 points in any of his last nine contests. Nonetheless, Aldama remains a core piece of Memphis' lineup until Jaren Jackson (foot) returns.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Snatches 10 boards

Aldama totaled four points (2-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and three steals in 27 minutes during Sunday's 103-97 win over the Wizards.

Aldama battled on the glass all night and came through on the defensive end, though he did struggle to shoot the ball in this one. He typically turns in a more efficient outing on offense, as he entered Sunday's matchup having shot 9-for-17 from the field over his first two games in November.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Scores 11 against Portland

Aldama ended Wednesday's 111-106 win over the Trail Blazers with 11 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds and two blocks over 29 minutes.

Aldama has been inconsistent on the scoreboard early in the season, as he's scored in double figures in just four of his first eight appearances. He posted a season-low three points during Monday's loss to the Jazz but bounced back by shooting 50 percent from the floor during Wednesday's narrow victory. Despite his inconsistency, the 21-year-old has taken on a much larger role for the Grizzlies early in the 2022-23 campaign, as he's averaged 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Volume remains reduced

Aldama ended with four points (2-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals over 30 minutes during Thursday's 125-110 win over the Kings.

After taking 25 total shots in the Grizzlies' first two games, Aldama is averaging just 6.0 shots across the past three. His rebounding has also decreased, resulting in three-game averages of 9.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in 27.7 minutes. His minutes seem safe until Jaren Jackson (foot) returns, but fantasy managers in 10- or even 12-team formats may want to consider moving on from Aldama. Holding for at least this upcoming period might be fine, though, as Memphis has a four-game week, so Aldama can be started with some confidence, especially in deeper formats.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Efficient in win

Aldama produced 17 points (6-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, one block and one steal over 32 minutes during Monday's 134-124 victory over the Nets.

Aldama took only eight shots in the contest, but he made six of them (including two from beyond the arc). That allowed him to tally 17 points, just one shy of his season high. Aldama is taking advantage of a starting role in his second NBA campaign to average a solid 12.8 points, 7.5 boards and 1.3 blocks though his first four contests.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Double-double in first NBA start

Aldama amassed 18 points (7-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 115-112 overtime victory over New York.

The 11 boards were a career high, as Aldama put together a statement game after winning the starting power forward job for the Grizzlies in the preseason. Jaren Jackson (foot) isn't expected back before December, so Aldama should get plenty of opportunity to establish himself as a key part of the team's frontcourt after being the 30th overall pick in last year's draft.

  • Grizzlies' Santi Aldama: Starting season-opener

Aldama will start Wednesday's season-opener against the Knicks, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.

Aldama will get the nod at power forward alongside Steven Adams to begin the year, and it looks as though he'll have a chance to grab hold of that spot for the foreseeable future -- at least until Jaren Jackson Jr. (foot) returns from injury. It is worth noting, however, that Memphis is without both Dillon Brooks (thigh) and Ziaire Williams (knee), so it's possible coach Taylor Jenkins could use a different lineup when both players are available. Either way, it's encouraging for Aldama that he's starting over Brandon Clarke.
