Castleton (wrist) played the final 1:19 of Wednesday's 136-124 win over the Grizzlies and didn't record any statistics during his time on the court. Castleton, one of the Lakers' three two-way players, was cleared to return to action Wednesday after he hadn't appeared at the NBA or G League level since Feb. 10 while recovering from a fractured right wrist. Even with Anthony Davis (knee) sidelined for the second leg of a back-to-back set, the rookie big man out of Florida remained out of head coach Darvin Ham's rotation, as the Lakers relied mostly on small-ball lineups when fill-in starting center Jaxson Hayes (31 minutes) was off the court.... Lakers' Colin Castleton: Set to return Wednesday
Castleton (wrist) isn't on the injury report for Wednesday's game versus the Grizzlies. Castleton hasn't played since Feb. 14 due to a fractured right wrist but is available to play Wednesday. However, the 23-year-old big man is unlikely to receive significant playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Colin Castleton: Out indefinitely with broken wrist
Castleton is expected to miss multiple weeks after he recently suffered a fractured right wrist, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports. Castleton, one of the Lakers' two-way players, hasn't seen any game action at the G League or NBA level since Feb. 14, but it's unclear when exactly he suffered the injury. The fractured wrist comes at an inconvenient time for Castleton, who may have had an outside chance to push Jaxson Hayes for the top backup role at center with his other competitor for the job, Christian Wood (knee) already facing a multi-week absence of his own. The undrafted rookie out of Florida had made just seven appearances for Los Angeles this season but has been a standout performer for the G League's South Bay Lakers when available, averaging 16.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.6 blocks and 0.9 steals in 28.8 minutes per game over 24 appearances.... Lakers' Colin Castleton: Secures seven rebounds in win
Castleton posted four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), seven rebounds and two blocks in 15 minutes during Wednesday's 109-101 preseason win over the Kings. Castleton had a limited impact offensively Wednesday, but he was a productive defender off the bench, tying for the team lead in rebounds while also posting a team-high mark in blocks. The 23-year-old is with the Lakers on a two-way deal but also impressed during Summer League play, so it's possible he earns some minutes in Los Angeles' rotation at some point this year.... Lakers' Colin Castleton: Stuffs stat sheet
Castleton collected 18 points (6-10 FG, 6-7 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and four blocks over 33 minutes of Wednesday's 109-99 Summer League loss to San Antonio. Castleton showcased his diverse skillset Wednesday, leading the Lakers in rebounds, assists and blocks. Though the Florida product went undrafted this offseason, he was quickly signed to a two-way deal and could push for early playing time if he continues to impress during Summer League.... Lakers' Colin Castleton: Signs two-way contract
Castleton signed a two-way contract with the Lakers on Friday, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports. Castleton averaged 16.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.7 assists in 31.1 minutes per game during his final season at Florida but missed the end of the regular season due to a broken hand. He should be back to full health and will compete for a role in the NBA after going undrafted Thursday.... See More ... See Less
