Bey exited Sunday's 116-103 loss to the Pelicans with what the Hawks had labeled as a hyperextended left knee, but ligament damage was detected after he was sent in for imaging. The fourth-year forward will likely undergo surgery in the coming days and will not only miss the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, but quite possibly, a significant chunk of the 2024-25 campaign. The knee injury comes at a particular inconvenient time for Bey, who is set to become a restricted free agent this summer and will presumably have a weakened market as a result. In his first full season with Atlanta, Bey averaged 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks in 32.7 minutes per game while shooting 41.6 percent from the field over 63 appearances (51 starts).

Bey finished Friday's 122-113 loss to Miami with 16 points (6-14 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 40 minutes.
The Hawks came up short against the Heat, but Bey delivered a strong performance and continues to show he's more than capable of handling the starting power forward role. However, his role in the long run will be determined by the recovery of Jalen Johnson (wrist), who was starting before getting sidelined. Bey is averaging 13.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game since moving back to a starting role.
