  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Gets ACL surgery

Bey underwent successful surgery March 27 to repair the torn ACL in his left knee.

Given that recoveries from ACL tears for basketball players can often take between 8-to-12 months, Bey is likely to be sidelined for at least the early part of the 2024-25 season. The knee injury comes at a particularly brutal time for Bey, who was set to become a free agent this summer and will now likely be in store for a much less favorable contract on the open market. Before suffering the season-ending injury, Bey averaged 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers, 1.5 assists and 0.8 steals in 32.7 minutes per game over his 63 appearances for Atlanta.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Suffers ACL tear, out for season

Bey (knee) was diagnosed Monday with a torn ACL and is out for the remainder of the season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Bey exited Sunday's 116-103 loss to the Pelicans with what the Hawks had labeled as a hyperextended left knee, but ligament damage was detected after he was sent in for imaging. The fourth-year forward will likely undergo surgery in the coming days and will not only miss the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, but quite possibly, a significant chunk of the 2024-25 campaign. The knee injury comes at a particular inconvenient time for Bey, who is set to become a restricted free agent this summer and will presumably have a weakened market as a result. In his first full season with Atlanta, Bey averaged 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks in 32.7 minutes per game while shooting 41.6 percent from the field over 63 appearances (51 starts).

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Exits with hyperextended knee

Bey sustained a hyperextended left knee in Sunday's game against the Pelicans and won't return.

Bey exited early in the fourth quarter in obvious pain, so his status will be worth keeping a close eye on over the next couple of days as Atlanta heads into a three-game week that begins Wednesday in Portland. Before exiting with the injury, Bey started and played 27 minutes, finishing with 14 points (3-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds and two assists.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Paces Atlanta in scoring Saturday

Bey totaled 23 points (8-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes during Saturday's 114-102 loss to the Nets.

Bey led the Hawks in scoring and was the only player who surpassed the 20-point mark for Atlanta, but his contributions were not enough to secure the victory. Bey has been relegated to a secondary role on offense in recent weeks, but this was the first time he reached the 20-point mark since Feb. 10. He has also surpassed the 15-point plateau in three of his five appearances following the All-Star break.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Pops for 18 against Raptors

Bey provided 18 points (6-15 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds and one assist over 34 minutes during Friday's 123-121 loss to Toronto.

The fourth-year forward just missed his ninth double-double of the season. Bey appears to be blossoming in Atlanta -- he's scored in double digits in seven straight games, and in 12 straight if you don't count a Feb. 2 tilt against Phoenix that he left early due to a minor ankle injury. In those 12 contests, Bey is averaging 18.3 points, 7.6 boards, 2.3 threes and 2.1 assists.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Double-doubles in win

Bey closed with 18 points (4-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 8-8 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and one steal in 34 minutes during Friday's 127-121 victory over Philadelphia.

Bey delivered his eighth double-double of the season, scoring at least 18 points for the third straight game. After a two-point dud against the Suns, Bey has found his rhythm, providing serviceable 12-team value over that time. He is likely to be on the fringes of 12-team leagues for the remainder of the season, depending on whether you are prioritizing points and threes.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Leading scorer in Wednesday's loss

Bey amassed 25 points (9-16 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in 36 minutes during Wednesday's 125-117 loss to the Celtics.

The former Piston led the Hawks in scoring on a night when Trae Young had trouble getting his shot to fall against Boston's defense and Dejounte Murray (back) was in street clothes. Bey's production remains erratic -- twice in the last nine games, he's scored two points or less -- but the fourth-year forward has, in general, been a solid complementary piece for Atlanta, averaging 14.4 points, 6.6 boards, 1.6 assists and 1.6 threes over his last 16 contests.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Scores 18 points

Bey chipped in 18 points (5-8 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds and one steal across 33 minutes during Monday's 149-144 loss to the Clippers.

Bey returned from a one-game absence due to an ankle issue and looked sharp for the Hawks. De'Andre Hunter's minutes are expected to ramp up which could potentially impact Bey, but the Hawks may utilize a lot of smaller lineups in the absence of Clint Capela (adductor), which could benefit both Bey and Hunter.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Available for Monday's matchup

Bey (ankle) is available and starting Monday's game against the Clippers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Bey missed Saturday's game against the Warriors due to an ankle injury, but he'll return to action following a minimal absence. Over his last five full appearances, he's averaged 18.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 34.2 minutes per game.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Questionable for Monday

Bey (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game against the Clippers.

Bey is at risk of missing his second consecutive game due to a left ankle sprain. De'Andre Hunter (knee management) is also questionable, but Wesley Matthews (calf) has been removed from the injury report, joining Garrison Mathews in a shallow rotation of healthy wings.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Out Saturday

Bey (ankle) will not play in Saturday's game versus the the Warriors, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Bey exited Friday's game against the Suns after spraining his ankle, so his absence for the second half of the team's back-to-back set is unsurprising. As a result, Garrison Mathews and Onyeka Okongwu could see a slight increase in minutes.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Exits with ankle sprain

Bey won't return to Friday's game against the Suns due to a left ankle sprain. He finished with two points (1-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt) and three rebounds in 16 minutes.

Bey tweaked his ankle right before halftime, and after he attempted to warm up again, the Hawks decided to hold him out. Wesley Matthews started the second half in his place. For now, Bey should be considered questionable for Saturday's game against Golden State.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Productive in Tuesday's win

Bey logged 18 points (5-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and one steal across 35 minutes during Tuesday's 138-122 win over the Lakers.

The Hawks are mostly healthy at the moment, but the fourth-year forward remained in the starting five Tuesday while De'Andre Hunter (knee) was on a minute restriction in his first game since Dec. 20. Bey's offense remains somewhat erratic -- he scored zero points in 30 minutes Jan. 20 against the Cavaliers -- but overall, he's providing solid numbers in a supporting role, averaging 13.7 points, 6.7 boards, 1.9 assists and 1.4 three-pointers through 15 games in January despite shooting 35.5 percent from the floor and 23.1 percent from long distance. He's expected to eventually cede his starting role to Hunter, though it may not be for a few games while Hunter ramps up his minutes in a bench role.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Goes 0-for-12 in loss

Bey had zero points (0-12 FG, 0-6 3Pt), seven rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes during Saturday's 116-95 loss to the Cavaliers.

Bey was terrible in the loss, missing all 12 of his shot attempts. This is about as bad as it gets for Bey, highlighting why it is hard to consider him a must-roster player in standard formats. Despite this effort, he is probably worth holding for now if you need points and threes with a sprinkling of defensive numbers.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Passive performance Monday

Bey closed with 10 points (3-9 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 33 minutes during Monday's 109-99 victory over the Spurs.

Bey tallied double-digit points for the fifth straight game, although that's where the good news ends for fantasy managers. Despite playing a crucial role for the Hawks, Bey has been unable to turn his playing time into more than serviceable production. Over the past two weeks, he is averaging 13.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.7 three-pointers in 33.1 minutes per night.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Double-double against Sixers

Bey logged 15 points (6-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds and one assist in 37 minutes during Wednesday's 139-132 overtime victory over the 76ers.

Four of the Hawks' starters came through with double-doubles in the OT victory, and Bey's was his sixth of the season. Five of those have come in the last 14 contests, a stretch in which the fourth-year forward is averaging 12.6 points, 7.9 boards, 1.8 threes, 1.6 assists and 0.9 steals. Bey's also shooting a poor 36.4 percent from the floor during that time, however, limiting his fantasy utility in roto formats.

  • Hawks' Saddiq Bey: Records double-double in loss

Bey finished Friday's 122-113 loss to Miami with 16 points (6-14 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 40 minutes.

The Hawks came up short against the Heat, but Bey delivered a strong performance and continues to show he's more than capable of handling the starting power forward role. However, his role in the long run will be determined by the recovery of Jalen Johnson (wrist), who was starting before getting sidelined. Bey is averaging 13.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game since moving back to a starting role.
