Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Won't return due to knee injury
Gafford won't return to Monday's game against the Kings due to a right knee sprain.
It didn't take long for the medical staff to rule Gafford out for the remainder of the game after he required assistance walking back to the locker room in the second quarter. The big man will finish the game with four points (2-2 FG), three rebounds and two assists across 10 minutes. With the Mavericks already thin at center, Kylor Kelley and Olivier-Maxence Prosper are candidates to pick up the slack the rest of the way.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Headed back to locker room vs. SAC
Gafford exited to the locker room after sustaining an apparent right knee injury in the second quarter of Monday's game against the Kings, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Gafford grabbed at his right knee and struggled to put much weight on his leg while he was helped back to the locker room. If the big man joins Anthony Davis (thigh), Dereck Lively (ankle) and Dwight Powell (hip) on the sideline the rest of the way, Kylor Kelley and Olivier-Maxence Prosper are candidates to receive a bump in minutes.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Available to play
Gafford (shoulder) will be available to play Thursday against Boston.
Gafford exited Tuesday's 118-116 loss to the 76ers with a stinger in his left shoulder, but he brushed off any concerns about it at Wednesday's practice. He's also not showing up at all on the injury report which is a good sign for his fantasy managers. Anthony Davis (abdomen) is questionable for Thursday, so there could be another game until we see how the frontcourt rotation shapes up.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Exits early Tuesday
Gafford exited with 3:20 remaining in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 118-116 loss to the 76ers and headed to the locker room after sustaining an apparent left shoulder injury, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports.
Gafford finished with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two blocks across 33 minutes. The severity of the injury is unknown, but Anthony Davis (abdomen) and Kylor Kelley are candidates to start at center if Gafford is unable to play in the Mavericks' next game Thursday against the Celtics.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Downplays injury after early exit
Gafford said that he expects to be available for the Mavericks' next game Thursday in Boston after exiting with 3:20 in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 118-116 loss to the 76ers with a left shoulder injury, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Gafford noted that the injury stemmed from him getting hit in the head, resulting in his neck jamming up before his left shoulder started to feel numb. The center said he could have played through the injury, but he remained on the bench for the closing minutes and finished with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes. While Gafford's comments about his injury are encouraging, his status will still need to be monitored leading up to Thursday. The Mavericks may have the recently acquired Anthony Davis (abdomen) available to make his team debut Thursday, and his presence could result in Gafford losing out on some playing time after he logged 30-plus minutes in seven of his last 10 appearances.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Won't play Sunday
Gafford (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cavaliers, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
Following the aftermath of the Luka Doncic (calf) for Anthony Davis (abdomen) blockbuster trade, the Mavericks have ruled out Gafford, Kyrie Irving (shoulder) and P.J. Washington (knee) for Sunday's game against the top team in the NBA, leaving Dallas with a frontcourt rotation of Naji Marshall, Kessler Edwards, Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Kylor Kelley. Gafford's next chance to suit up will come Tuesday in Philadelphia. When Davis is available to make his Dallas debut and Gafford is healthy, head coach Jason Kidd expects both big men to start, especially while Dereck Lively (foot) is still sidelined.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Questionable against Cleveland
Gafford (ankle) has been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cavaliers.
After a strong performance in Friday's win against the Pistons, Gafford may not play in Sunday's game in Cleveland due to left ankle soreness. The 26-year-old big man recorded a double-double in Detroit, finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and five blocks. The Mavericks are already shorthanded in the frontcourt with Dereck Lively (ankle) and Maxi Kleber (foot) out for a considerable amount of time, which means they could lean on P.J. Washington or Kylor Kelley to help shoulder the load in the paint.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Keeps surging with five swats
Gafford posted 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-6 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and five blocks over 33 minutes during Friday's 117-102 loss to Detroit.
Gafford was a menace down low Friday, recording his fifth game of the season with at least five swats to go with his eighth double-double of the year. The veteran big man's fantasy stock continues to skyrocket through his last seven appearances, where he's averaged 18.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.6 assists in 30.4 minutes per game while shooting 70.3 percent from the field. With Dallas' frontcourt ravaged by injuries, Gafford has a clear pathway to dominating the center minutes going forward.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Excellent two-way play
Gafford finished Monday's 130-108 victory over the Wizards with 18 points (8-13 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and five blocks over 24 minutes.
Gafford has been making the most of the minutes he's earning in a depleted Mavericks frontcourt, and he's proving to be a reliable presence on both ends of the court for Dallas. Since moving to a starting role Jan. 15 during a 119-116 loss to the Pelicans seven games ago, Gafford is averaging 18.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 2.3 assists per game. With Dereck Lively (ankle) and Maxi Kleber (foot) out for at least a couple of months, Gafford should continue starting for the Mavericks.
