Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Plays for first time in two weeks
Morris (knee) played 11 minutes in Monday's 127-104 win over the Pacers, recording three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and two assists.
Morris made his first appearance off the bench since March 13, with his two-week absence partially the result of a knee injury and partially the result of him not being included in head coach Jason Kidd's rotation. Maxi Kleber (hamstring) sat out Monday, but because he was believed to be sidelined for maintenance purposes more than anything, he could be back in action Wednesday in Philadelphia. If that's the case, Morris could find himself right back out of Kidd's rotation once again.... See More ... See Less

Morris has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday after missing the last three games with left knee soreness. However, the veteran forward hasn't played double-digit minutes since Jan. 26, so he is unlikely to heavily impact the Mavericks' rotation.... See More ... See Less

Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Unlikely to play Wednesday
Morris ((knee) is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Spurs.
Morris was a late addition to the injury report and likely won't suit up versus San Antonio. Luka Doncic (thigh) has already been ruled out, while Kyrie Irving (foot), Christian Wood (foot) and Tim Hardaway (calf) are all questionable, so Dallas could have another skeleton crew available Wednesday.... Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Season of disappointment continues
Morris finished Monday's 104-88 loss to Memphis with four points (2-2 FG) in five minutes.
Morris played fewer than 10 minutes for the eighth straight game, continuing to offer nothing in terms of tangible production. Given those eight games are spread across almost eight weeks, it is clear he is simply a depth piece for the Mavericks, utilized if and when the team is down on troops.... See More ... See Less
Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Available to debut Wednesday
Morris (knee) is not on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Clippers.
Morris and Kyrie Irving are both clear from the injury report and are expected to debut Wednesday. Morris saw spot minutes in Brooklyn and is averaging just 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.6 minutes. However, he could see a marginally increased role, given that Dallas has a thinner depth chart. Either way, he's not expected to be fantasy relevant in standard leagues.... See More ... See Less
Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Likely to debut Wednesday
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said Morris (knee) will join the team in Los Angeles to practice Tuesday and should be available for Wednesday's game against the Clippers, Mark Followill of Bally Sports Southwest reports.
Though the Mavericks and Nets agreed in principle Sunday to a deal that sent Morris and Kyrie Irving to Dallas, the trade wasn't officially finalized until shortly before Monday's game against the Jazz, leaving both new acquisitions unavailable to make their debuts in that contest. Assuming Morris' sore left knee doesn't provide any complications in practice Tuesday, however, he should be in uniform Wednesday. Even so, Morris wasn't a rotation player in Brooklyn for much of the season, and his outlook for playing time in Dallas may not change much with all of Dwight Powell, Christian Wood and Reggie Bullock presumably ahead of him in the pecking order for frontcourt minutes.... Mavericks' Markieff Morris: Traded to Dallas
The Mavericks acquired Morris (knee) and Kyrie Irving (calf) from the Nets on Sunday in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, an unprotected 2029 first-round pick and 2027 and 2029 second-round picks, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Morris hadn't been a regular part of the Brooklyn rotation this season, and though he joins a Dallas frontcourt that's comparatively lacking in depth, the 33-year-old isn't a lock see consistent minutes off the bench. At least in the short term, Morris may have a path to playing time on the second unit while Finney-Smith is out of the picture and while Davis Bertans (calf) and Maxi Kleber (hamstring) are both potentially out through the All-Star break. Christian Wood (thumb), meanwhile, has missed Dallas' last eight games but could be back in action as soon as Monday in Utah.... See More ... See Less

Morris continues to see spot run for the Nets, so if he misses time, it won't impact the rotation too much. He should tentatively be considered questionable for Monday's game against the Clippers.... See More ... See Less

The Nets guaranteed Morris' contract for the remainder of the season Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Morris has been an inconsistent part of the Nets' rotation this year, but he'll remain with the club after he was one of three players on the team to have their contracts guaranteed. He's averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 11.4 minutes per game over 19 appearances to begin the season.... See More ... See Less
