  • Durbin Feltman: Cut by Boston

The Red Sox released Feltman on Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. • Red Sox's Durbin Feltman: Invited to major league camp

Feltman received an invitation to Boston's major-league training camp Saturday, Christopher Smith of Mass Live reports. Feltman, a 2018 third-round pick out of TCU, was highly touted as a reliever that could reach the majors quickly with a high-90s fastball. However, after a promising first season in the organization, the right-hander ran into control issues in 2019, when he walked 5.5 batters per nine innings and his velocity dipped. Feltman described the year to Smith last September as a fluke, while pitching coach Paul Abbot attributed it to heightened expectations. The 24-year-old reclaimed his form in 2021 and displayed an increase in velocity, though it was still lower than his days at TCU. Feltman posted a 2.96 ERA, 1.065 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9 over 51.2 combined innings at Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket.
