In his 12th start of the season, McClanahan took his first loss despite allowing just two runs. McClanahan has been on a tear to start the season, allowing more than two runs just once all year, earning a 2.07 ERA, and 1.15 WHIP to pair with a 10.6 K/9. On top of leading MLB in wins, McClanahan boasts the third-lowest ERA, fourth-most quality starts and fifth-most strikeouts among starters.

Rays' Shane McClanahan: Another stellar start
McClanahan (8-0) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits across seven innings during a 7-3 win over the Blue Jays. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk.
McClanahan tied his season high with seven innings, a mark he set in his last start versus Milwaukee, and allowed one or fewer runs for the seventh time this year. The left-hander cruised to his eighth victory thanks to plenty of early run support and remains firmly in the AL Cy Young conversation, sporting a 1.97 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 75:25 K:BB across 11 outings (64 innings). McClanahan will look to make it three straight quality starts next time out, which is tentatively scheduled for early next week at Wrigley Field.

McClanahan gave up a season-high four runs to the Yankees last time out, but he bounced back with his third scoreless outing of the year and completed a season-high seven innings Friday. McClanahan did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks over four innings during a 9-8 loss to the Yankees. He struck out three.
McClanahan was his usual dominant self through four shutout innings, but he allowed the first five hitters to reach in the fifth, yielding two-run home runs to Aaron Judge and Kyle Higashioka. The left-hander finished with season highs in walks and runs allowed while submitting season lows in innings and strikeouts, so it was easily his worst performance of the campaign. McClanahan now sports a 2.34 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 61:24 K:BB through nine starts (50 innings), and he'll look to bounce back next time out, which is tentatively scheduled for a three-game weekend set versus Milwaukee.

McClanahan gave up a solo home run to Andrew McCutchen, but he got plenty of run support and recorded at least nine strikeouts for the third time this season en route to his sixth win. The left-hander has given up four homers over his past three starts after not allowing one through his first four outings, but he's yet to give up more than two runs in a game through his first seven appearances. McClanahan (3-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-2 victory over Boston, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over five-plus innings. He struck out nine.
The southpaw blanked the BoSox for five innings, but after McClanahan led off the sixth with a walk to Rafael Devers and a single by Justin Turner, he got the hook and eventually had to watch Devers come around to score. McClanahan generated a massive 23 swinging strikes on 95 pitches in another dominant performance, and he'll take a 1.59 ERA and 21:9 K:BB through 17 innings into his next outing, likely to come in Toronto this weekend.

McClanahan (2-0) allowed two earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six across six innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Nationals.
McClanahan made his outing more difficult early on by walking a batter in each of the first three innings. He escaped those frames having allowed only one run, and he then surrendered an additional run in the fourth after allowing four consecutive batters to reach base.
