Mets' Nolan McLean: Grabs second win
McLean (2-2) earned the win Thursday over the Tigers, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.
Things looked dicey for McLean in the first inning, as he gave up a three-run homer to Gage Workman to put the Mets in an early hole. However, McLean would bear down and blank the Tigers over his subsequent six frames while New York rallied for an eventual 9-4 victory. It's the first win since April 3 for the right-hander despite having a 2.83 ERA in his six starts between victories. Overall, his ERA sits at 2.92 this season across nine outings (52.1 innings) with a 0.96 WHIP and 64 strikeouts. McLean will look to keep rolling his next time out, tentatively scheduled to come next week in Washington.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Fans six in no-decision Friday
McLean didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts across six innings.
McLean hasn't picked up a win since April 3 against the Giants and hasn't factored into the decision in four of his past five starts. He generated just nine whiffs on 100 pitches against Arizona but continued to get strong results in what has been a great start to the season for the 24-year-old. McLean has a 1-2 record but owns a sterling 2.78 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB across 45.1 innings. McLean is in the 95th percentile in strikeout rate and average exit velocity, and his 2.32 xERA points to McLean being a bonafide ace through eight starts.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Early hook in no-decision
McLean did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Angels, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk with six strikeouts over four innings.
McLean didn't have his best stuff, inducing just six whiffs on a season-low 78 pitches and departing with a 3-1 deficit after allowing two runs in the fourth inning. It was a rare hiccup for the 24-year-old, though he's still yielded three earned runs or fewer in each of his seven outings this season. He owns a 2.97 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 51:11 K:BB across 39.1 innings and lines up for a road matchup against the Diamondbacks next weekend.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Strikes out seven in loss
McLean (1-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over five-plus innings to take the loss in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Rockies.
McLean was charged with a single run in the fourth and sixth innings, though the second run on his line came after Huascar Brazoban allowed an inherited runner to score. This was tied for McLean's shortest start of the season, but he's yet to give up more than three runs in any of his six outings, and he's logged at least seven strikeouts on five occasions. He's at a 2.55 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB through 35.1 innings. McLean's next outing is projected to be on the road versus the Angels, though wins could remain tough to come by if the Mets don't give him better run support.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Fades late after early dominance
McLean did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Twins, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out 10 over 6.2 innings.
McLean was electric to start the day, retiring the first 15 batters he faced while racking up eight strikeouts through five perfect innings. However, his no-hit bid was broken up by Matt Wallner to lead off the sixth, and things quickly unraveled from there as Byron Buxton launched a two-run homer later in the inning. After returning for the seventh, McLean allowed back-to-back hits that tied the game and ended his outing. Despite the late fade, the right-hander recorded his third consecutive quality start Tuesday and has now recorded eight or more strikeouts in four of his five starts. McLean holds a 2.67 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 38:8 K:BB across 30.1 innings this season and is set up for a home start against Colorado in his next outing.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Impresses in pitchers' duel
McLean allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over seven innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
McLean and opposing starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto both gave up a run in the first inning, but neither hurler yielded another run over the remainder of their time in the contest. McLean's impressive performance included 12 whiffs and eight punchouts, with the latter mark tying a season high he had established in two of his previous three outings. Tuesday's quality start was the second in a row for the right-hander, but he was unable to pick up a win in either instance. Nonetheless, McLean is off to a great start this season, posting a 2.28 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB over 23.2 innings spanning four starts.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Lacks support in tough-luck loss
McLean (1-1) took the loss against Arizona on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings.
McLean rolled through six scoreless innings having given up just two hits. He faltered a bit in the seventh, giving up a walk and a single around his eighth strikeout, which led to him getting pulled. Luke Weaver entered and gave up a pair of hits while allowing both inherited runners to score (plus two more), which ultimately saddled McLean with the loss. Despite the defeat, this was another promising outing for the 24-year-old, who now carries a 2.70 ERA and 20:6 K:BB through three starts spanning 16.2 frames. He'll face a tough test his next time out, as he's lined up to start in Los Angeles against the Dodgers next week.
