  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Sent to Triple-A

Mederos was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Mederos gave up two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two in three innings of relief in Friday's game in Minnesota. Jake Eder was recalled to take on the Angels' long-relief duties in the short term.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Recalled from High-A

The Angels recalled Mederos from High-A Tri-City on Wednesday.

The Angels sent Mederos all the way down to High-A after he failed to make the big-league roster out of spring training. He has since turned in a 3.52 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with a 14:3 K:BB across 15.1 innings and will now get another look in the majors. Given the fact he's allowed 10 earned runs in just 8.1 innings during his MLB career, he'll almost certainly be limited to low-leverage situations while with the Halos.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Cut from big-league camp

The Angels optioned Mederos to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Mederos is entering his third season as a member of the Angels' 40-man roster, but he made just seven total appearances at the big-league level between the 2023 and 2024 campaigns and was facing an uphill battle to win a spot on the Opening Day roster. All seven of his big-league outings have come in relief, but the 23-year-old righty will likely work out of the rotation at Salt Lake to begin the upcoming season.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Sent to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Mederos to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

The 23-year-old was called up from High-A Tri City in mid-August but struggled in his first big-league action with seven earned runs allowed over 5.1 innings. Mederos will now receive his first taste of the Triple-A level.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Called up by Halos

The Angels recalled Mederos from High-A Tri City on Sunday.

Mederos spent most of the campaign in Double-A Rocket City's starting rotation, but he moved to Tri City for his last outing. The right-hander hasn't pitched well at either level, as he allowed six runs at High-A and has a 6.60 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 69:48 K:BB across 88.2 innings at Double-A. He'll likely serve as a long-relief option while he's up with the big club.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Sent to minor-league camp

The Angels optioned Mederos to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

Mederos got his feet wet in the majors last season and pitched well this spring, allowing three runs with a 12:3 K:BB over 8.2 frames. The 22-year-old was used in relief in his three big-league appearances but should be part of Salt Lake's rotation.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Heading back to Rocket City

The Angels optioned Mederos to Double-A Rocket City on Wednesday.

Mederos' stay with the big club lasted just one day, with the young right-hander tossing a scoreless inning out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Atlanta. He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen to right-hander Dominic Leone, whom the Angels acquired from the Mets ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Back in majors

The Angels recalled Mederos from Triple-A Rocket City on Tuesday.

With Griffin Canning (calf) headed for the injured list, Mederos will come up from Double-A to add depth to Los Angeles' pitching staff. Mederos has been used primarily as a starter in Double-A this season, but he'll likely come out of the Angels' bullpen as he did during his last stint in the majors.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Sent back to Double-A

The Angels optioned Mederos to Double-A Rocket City on Tuesday.

Mederos surrendered three earned runs in two innings (two appearances) during his brief stay in the Angels' bullpen. The 22-year-old has posted a 5.98 ERA and 71:25 K:BB in 55.2 innings (12 starts) this season at the Double-A level.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Contract selected from Double-A

The Angeles selected the contract of Mederos from Double-A Rocket City on Friday.

Mederos registered a 5.98 ERA in his 12 starts with the Trash Pandas, but he also struck out 71 over 55.2 innings. He'll likely be a multi-inning reliever while with the Angels in his first taste of major-league action.

  • Angels' Victor Mederos: Slated for big-league promotion

Mederos will be called up by the Angels prior to Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, Francys Romero of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old right-hander has just a 5.98 ERA in 12 starts this season with Double-A Rocket City, although it's worth noting that he's used the pre-tacked balls many pitchers in the Southern League have had issues with, and Mederos has fanned 71 over 55.2 innings for the Trash Pandas. It's not clear at this point whether the plan is to use him as a reliever or starter. He'll be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.
