Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Signs two-year extension
Dominguez signed a two-year, $7 million contract extension with the Phillies on Thursday that includes an $8 million club option for 2025.
Dominguez had two years of arbitration eligibility left, but this new deal will buy those out along with potentially one free agent year. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the right-hander is guaranteed at least $7.5 million when factoring in a $500,000 buyout. The 28-year-old was excellent in 2022, posting a 3.00 ERA and 61:22 K:BB across 51 frames while collecting nine saves. Dominguez should be in the mix for saves again in 2023 along with Craig Kimbrel, Gregory Soto and Jose Alvarado.

Dominguez stepped up once again in the postseason, delivering his fifth straight scoreless outing across 6.2 masterful innings. Dominguez (triceps) was activated from the injured list Sunday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Dominguez was expected to be activated Sunday, and he is now officially back in the Phillies' bullpen. It's not clear if he will jump right back into the closer's role, but given his 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB since the All-Star break, it seems likely that will be the case.

Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Could return Saturday
Dominguez (triceps) could be activated off the injured list as soon as Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Dominguez has been out since mid-August due to triceps tendinitis, but it looks as though he'll be back for the final few weeks of the season. He walked two batters in his lone rehab outing for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, but he also struck out one in a scoreless inning and sat 98-100 mph with his fastball. He recorded saves in three of his final five outings prior to hitting the injured list and should add to his total of nine on the season down the stretch.
