Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Diagnosed with hairline fracture
Moreno was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right pointer finger, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Moreno landed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to what was initially listed as a right hand contusion. Further tests showed a more serious injury, and it appears unlikely that he'll be activated off the IL when eligible June 27. A clearer timeline for Moreno's return should be established when he returns from baseball activities, but he is in jeopardy of being sidelined through the All-Star break. Aramis Garcia was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Thursday and will serve as the Diamondbacks' backup catcher behind Jose Herrera for as long as Moreno is sidelined.

Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Lands on IL with bruised hand
The Diamondbacks placed Moreno on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right hand contusion.
Moreno was first injured back on June 6 when a wild pitch struck his hand. He has been in and out of the lineup since then and unable to get over the hump with the injury, so the Diamondbacks have elected to give him some extended down time. He'll be eligible for activation June 27 and should be ready to go at that time. Jose Herrera will serve as Arizona's primary catcher while Moreno is out, and Aramis Garcia has been called up from Triple-A Reno to serve as Herrera's backup.

Jose Herrera will draw another start behind the dish while Moreno takes a seat for the third game in a row as he continues to manage a sore right hand. The Diamondbacks haven't called up another catcher from the minors, so Moreno is likely being viewed as day-to-day and could make his return to the lineup as soon as Thursday's series finale.

Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Homers as pinch hitter
Moreno entered Friday's game as a pinch hitter and hit a two-run home run in a 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.
Moreno batted for catcher Jose Herrera in the ninth inning and pulled the Diamondbacks closer. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo decided to pair starter Zac Gallen with Herrera, after the pitcher was rocked in his previous outing. Gallen has a better ERA this season with Herrera (3.56) than Moreno (6.89). The pitcher has a career 3.27 ERA over 34 games when paired with Herrera. The Gallen/Herrera arrangement could be how Lovullo operates going forward, so fantasy managers that roster Moreno should be cognizant of that.
