The Mets outrighted Grey to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
Grey will remain in the Mets organization after he went unclaimed off waivers upon being designated for assignment Thursday. The 28-year-old right-hander was called up from Triple-A on Aug. 22 but didn't appear in any games for the Mets before being optioned to the minors five days later and then removed from the 40-man roster. The Mets designated Grey for assignment Thursday.
Grey ceded his spot on the 40-man roster to infielder Deven Marrero, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. The Mets previously called up Grey from Triple-A on Aug. 22, only for him to get demoted five days later without making an appearance out of the big-league bullpen.
