  • Rangers' Sandro Fabian: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Fabian to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

After coming up from the minors and making his MLB debut in early September, Fabian only managed to appear in three games, during which he went 0-for-5. He'll now end up without a spot on the active roster with Ezequiel Duran returning from paternity leave, but Fabian could be a candidate to take on a more prominent role with the Rangers in 2025 after turning in a .809 OPS at Round Rock this season.

  • Rangers' Sandro Fabian: Makes MLB debut Friday

Fabian started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Angels.

Fabian, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, made his MLB debut Friday, slotting in against a left-hander. He was eventually removed for a pinch hitter once a right-handed reliever entered the game. This was the second straight game in which Leody Taveras was held out of the starting lineup against a left-handed starter, so Fabian could be in line for opportunities against southpaws going forward. That includes Saturday, when the Angels have lefty Tyler Anderson scheduled to start.

Fabian, 26, has slashed .270/.343/.462 with 17 home runs and four stolen bases this season at Round Rock. He's capable of playing all three outfield spots and will be making his major-league debut if and when he gets into a game.

  • Rangers' Sandro Fabian: Joins minors camp

Fabian was reassigned to minor-league camp Monday.

Fabian struggled against big-league arms over the last few weeks, collecting three hits in 22 at-bats while driving in one and striking out eight times in 18 contests. He'll aim to put this rocky start in the rearview mirror and should join Triple-A Round Rock for the 2024 campaign after slashing .288/.331/.523 with 23 homers, 78 RBI, six stolen bases and 67 runs scored over 117 games with the Express a season ago.

Fabian spent the 2023 season at Triple-A Round Rock, slashing .288/.331/.523 with 23 home runs. He's now re-upped with the Rangers and will compete for a reserve role in spring training, but a return to Round Rock is likely.

  • Giants' Sandro Fabian: Out with undisclosed issue

Fabian is on the 7-day IL at High-A San Jose with an undisclosed medical condition, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

This sounds like it could be an unusual issue, given that the team did not disclose the nature of the injury to Callis, and that he referred to it as a "medical condition." Consider Fabian out indefinitely.
