The 25-year-old Bichette had cooled off after a hot start to the season, going 8-for-38 with just one extra-base hit in his previous 10 games. He's still slashing an outstanding .340/.381/.528 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored through 113 plate appearances this year.

    It took a perfect night from the shortstop to end the Rays' perfect start to the season. Bichette has had a pretty great start to 2023 himself, collecting multiple hits in five of the last eight games and slashing .391/.418/.641 through 67 plate appearances with four doubles, four homers, 10 RBI and 11 runs. The only blemish on his line is that Bichette has yet to successfully steal a base after swiping 38 in 47 attempts over the last two seasons.

    With the Blue Jays trailing in the seventh inning, Bichette took Jimmy Herget deep to give Toronto a 4-3 lead and ultimately a victory. It's the second homer of the season for the shortstop, and he's driven in six runs. After getting off to a slow start in 2022 it's nice to see early success for Bichette, as seen in a .342/.359/.553 slash line over the first eight contests of 2023.

    Remarkably, it's the first home run of the season for a Blue Jays team that was one of only seven last year to launch 200 or more. Bichette's had a great start at the plate, going 8-for-19 (.421) with a double, two RBI and three runs scored in addition to Monday's blast, and the 25-year-old shortstop will look to take his production to another level in 2023 after slashing a combined .294/.338/.477 over the last two seasons with 53 homers and 38 steals.

Bichette has never hit below .290 in his four big-league seasons, but the 25-year-old could be ready to take a big step forward with his overall production in 2023 after posting a career-low .802 OPS last year.
