  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Goes on paternity leave

The Yankees placed Grisham on the paternity leave list Monday.

Grisham will miss at least one game and, in all likelihood, all three contests of his team's series versus the Guardians before rejoining the club for the start of a homestand Friday. Jorbit Vivas is grabbing Grisham's spot on the active roster.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Homers again Sunday

Grisham went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and three strikeouts in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rays.

Grisham started the game off with a bang, launching a solo home run off Ryan Pepiot as the Yankees' leadoff hitter. The outfielder has now gone deep in back-to-back games and six times overall this season. Grisham is batting .320 with six home runs, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored over 50 at-bats in 20 games in 2025.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Drives in lone run

Grisham went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Friday's 1-0 win over the Rays.

Grisham was responsible for Friday's lone run when his RBI single off Drew Rasmussen brought Paul Goldschmidt home in the second inning. Grisham has struggled at the plate as of late, but he's begun the season slashing .310/.383/.619 with four walks, 10 runs scored, four home runs and 11 RBI in 47 plate appearances.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: On bench after six straight starts

Grisham is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Grisham had started each of the last six games in the outfield, benefiting mainly from Cody Bellinger missing time recently due to a stiff back and an illness as well as Jasson Dominguez getting one game off. Though Grisham made the most of his time in the lineup by going 9-for-23 with four extra-base hits (three home runs, one double), nine RBI, six runs and two walks, he still looks like he'll have to settle for a part-time role in the outfield while all of Aaron Judge, Dominguez and Bellinger are healthy and while Ben Rice continues to excel as the team's primary designated hitter.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Homers twice in win

Grisham went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Pirates.

Grisham took Bailey Falter deep twice, first with a solo homer in the third inning and then with a three-run shot in the fifth. He's logged three straight starts, going 6-for-11 with four extra-base hits, five runs scored and seven RBI in that stretch. While the 28-year-old is expected to be a bench option for the Yankees this season, he's making a strong early case for a more regular role.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Goes yard in rare start Thursday

Grisham went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's 9-7 win over Arizona.

Grisham doubled in the first inning to plate a run, and he tagged Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly for a two-run blast and his first homer of the year in the third frame. Despite the absence of Giancarlo Stanton (elbows/calf), the 28-year-old Grisham still has just a part-time role in New York's outfield and has taken just 10 at-bats through five outings this season. Grisham is 5-for-10 with a double and four runs scored thus far, though.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Flashing power this spring

Grisham went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in a Grapefruit League loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Grisham's second-inning solo shot was his third homer of the spring. That's tied for the team lead with eight other players, and Grisham has reached that mark in just 23 plate appearances. The veteran outfielder also boasts a .294/.435/.824 slash line with five walks, though he's struck out seven times. Grisham is slated to serve as New York's fourth outfielder during the coming campaign.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Making Grapefruit League debut

Grisham (hamstring) is starting in center field and batting fifth Monday against the Pirates in his Grapefruit League debut, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Grisham reported to camp with a hamstring injury he suffered in January, but he's been running without issue for a while and is now ready to test things out in game action. The 28-year-old will operate primarily as a reserve outfielder for the Yankees this season but could see some extra playing time early on while Giancarlo Stanton (elbow) is out.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Returning from hamstring issue

Manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Grisham pulled his hamstring in January but has since resumed baseball activities, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Grisham will be a bit delayed to start spring training, but it doesn't appear it will affect his availability for the start of the regular season. The 28-year-old was running close to full speed Sunday, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, so he could receive full clearance before too long.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Settles at $5 million

Grisham agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with the Yankees on Friday to avoid arbitration, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Grisham signed a one-year deal with the Yankees in January after spending the last four seasons with the Padres. He appeared in just 76 regular-season games in 2024 while serving in a depth role in the outfield behind Alex Verdugo, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, and Grisham finished with a slash line of .190/.290/.385 with nine home runs and 31 RBI over 208 plate appearances. Grisham could see more playing time in 2025 if Soto and/or Verdugo opt to take their talents elsewhere in free agency, although Jasson Dominguez is expected to move into a starting role to replace one of them.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Laces two-run shot

Grisham went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's win over Pittsburgh.

Following Gleyber Torres' leadoff double in the first inning, Grisham took the first pitch he saw from Bailey Falter deep for his ninth home run of the season. Grisham later drove in Jose Trevino in the third inning with an RBI single, giving him five games this season with three or more RBI. After playing 130 or more games each of the last three seasons, Grisham has filled a bench role in his first campaign with the Yankees. The 27-year-old finishes the regular season with a disappointing .190/.290/.385 slash line, nine home runs, 31 RBI, 21 runs scored and one stolen base.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Grand slam off bench

Grisham hit a grand slam in his lone at-bat in Wednesday's 10-6 loss to the Rangers.

Grisham entered the game as a defensive replacement when the Yankees were down 10-2. He came up with a big slam in the ninth inning, but the Yankees didn't build on it. Grisham has functioned as a fourth outfielder lately and hadn't collected a hit since Aug. 14. He's slashing a paltry .187/.294/.380 with eight homers, 28 RBI, 20 runs scored and one stolen base over 195 plate appearances.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Back in action Wednesday

Grisham (hand) will start in center field and bat sixth Wednesday against the White Sox.

Grisham hasn't played since he was hit in the hand by a pitch during the first game of Saturday's twin bill versus the Rangers, but he'll now return to the starting nine after a few days of rest. The 27-year-old outfielder is slashing .179/.304/.359 across 47 plate appearances since the All-Star break, though he has tallied a hit in three of his last four games.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Suffers bruised hand

X-rays on Grisham's left hand came back negative after he was hit by a pitch during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader versus Texas.

Grisham made an early exit from the game after getting hit, but he appears to have escaped with just a bruise. The outfielder will likely stay on the bench for Saturday's nightcap, though he looks unlikely to require a trip to the injured list.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Exits after HBP

Grisham was removed from the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rangers after getting hit in the hand by a pitch, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Grisham remained in the game to run the bases after taking a 96-mph fastball off his hand, but he was replaced in the field once the Yankees went out on defense. The 27-year-old outfielder will likely sit out Saturday's nightcap due to the incident, but his availability for Sunday's game is unclear.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Goes deep in victory Saturday

Grisham went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 8-3 win against the Blue Jays.

Grisham got his first start of August and took advantage with a two-run shot in the second inning. The outfielder played regularly throughout most of July but has returned to a reserve role due to Jazz Chisholm being acquired by the Yankees at the trade deadline and with Giancarlo Stanton activated from the injured list Monday. Grisham has made just two starts over New York's past six contests.

  • Yankees' Trent Grisham: Set to lose playing time

Grisham is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Grisham had served as a regular starter against right-handed pitching for the past month, but his playing time should begin trending down after Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday. With Stanton set to take over as the Yankees' everyday designated hitter, Aaron Judge is expected to serve as the club's primary option in center field, leaving no spot available for Grisham.
