Tellez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Pirates. Tellez hasn't been given a ton of playing time since he returned from the injured list last month, with this marking his fifth straight game on the bench. He did receive a couple pinch-hitting opportunities over that span, but Tellez is looking at a secondary role down the stretch. Christian Yelich is getting a start in the designated hitter spot Wednesday, with Tyrone Taylor covering left field.... See More ... See Less

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting against righty
Tellez is not in Monday's lineup against the Pirates. Tellez typically sits against lefties, as he did Sunday against Ranger Suarez and the Phillies, but now he's taking a seat for the second game in a row against a righty (Luis Ortiz) -- he also sat Saturday against Aaron Nola. Carlos Santana will start at first base while William Contreras starts at designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Idle against southpaw
Tellez isn't in the Brewers' lineup Sunday against Philadelphia. With lefty Ranger Suarez set to start for the Phillies, Tellez will retreat to the bench Sunday. William Contreras will serve as Milwaukee's designated hitter with Victor Caratini behind the plate, and Carlos Santana will start at first base.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Not starting Saturday
Tellez isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against the Phillies. Tellez will get a breather Saturday after going 3-for-10 with three RBI across his last five games. Christian Yelich will serve as Milwaukee's DH with Mark Canha in left field, and Carlos Santana will get the nod at first base.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting against lefty
Tellez is absent from the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs. Mark Canha will play first base and William Contreras will serve as the Brewers' designated hitter as they take on left-hander Justin Steele. The left-handed-hitting Tellez has slashed just .175/.267/.250 in 45 plate appearances versus southpaws this year.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Drives in four runs
Tellez went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's win over the Padres. Tellez ripped a three-run homer in the third inning and also tacked on an RBI single. Between poor performance and a lengthy stint on the injured list, it was his first long ball since May 22. During that 38-game homerless drought, he posted a brutal .160/.215/.200 slash line. Tellez now owns a .686 OPS with 41 RBI and 13 home runs through 82 games.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Absent from lineup again
Tellez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Tellez started in both of the Brewers' first two games after he was reinstated injured list over the weekend, but the lefty-hitting first baseman/designated hitter has now been on the bench for the last two contests even as the Brewers have faced right-handers on both occasions. He was also removed for a pinch hitter in his first game back. Tellez should still ultimately see plenty of starts in the DH spot for Milwaukee, but perhaps not enough for him to be a viable mixed-league option outside of the deepest leagues. William Contreras is in the DH spot Wednesday, with Victor Caratini catching.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: On bench Tuesday
Tellez is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Twins. Tellez is being eased back into action after returning Saturday from a six-week IL stint to heal a bout of right forearm inflammation. Mark Canha will serve as the Brewers' designated hitter Tuesday versus Minnesota as Carlos Santana covers first base.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Activated from IL
The Brewers activated Tellez (finger) from the injured list Saturday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The Brewers said they wanted Tellez to heat up in the minors before they bring him back to the active roster, and with five hits in his last three games, Tellez has done just that. Now that he's healthy, the left-handed Tellez will likely start most often against right-handed starters with the switch-hitting Carlos Santana drawing starts against lefties. Abraham Toro was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Weekend return likely
Tellez (finger) will likely return during the Brewers' weekend series against Texas, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Tellez has already been ruled out for Friday's series opener against the Rangers, but a return to the Brewers' lineup seems imminent. Manager Craig Counsell previously noted that the team wanted Tellez's bat to heat up in Triple-A before activating him from the IL, and the slugger has gone 5-for-13 with a homer and five RBI across his last three games. Once he returns, Tellez will presumably take over as the primary DH with Carlos Santana, a superior defensive player, now manning first base.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: On assignment through LAD series
Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Tellez (finger) will remain on his rehab assignment through at least the end of Milwaukee's series against the Dodgers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Counsell said the Brewers are hoping to get Tellez's bat going in the minors before bringing him back to the big-league squad. He's just 2-for-18 through five games with Triple-A Nashville and has been a liability at the plate (.410 OPS) for Milwaukee since belting his last home run May 22.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Rehab stint on tap
Manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Tellez (finger/forearm) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The 28-year-old had the stitches removed from his fractured left ring finger July 25 and has been cleared for game action after ramping up his baseball activities over the past week and a half. Tellez initially landed on the shelf in early July with forearm inflammation, but that injury no longer appears to be a concern. Depending how many games he'll require during the rehab assignment, Tellez could be back with the Brewers as early as next weekend's three-game series against the White Sox.... See More ... Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Getting stitches removed Tuesday
Tellez (forearm) said that he'll have 17 stitches removed from his fractured ring finger Tuesday, and he expects to resume swinging a bat as soon as Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Tellez was initially placed on the 10-day injured list July 5 with right forearm inflammation, but he appeared on pace to get activated at some point this past week before he fractured his ring finger while shagging a fly ball July 15. Now one week into an expected 3-to-4-week recovery, Tellez looks to be progressing as anticipated but still has a few more hurdles to clear before his return can be considered imminent. Owen Miller will likely continue to serve as the Brewers' primary first baseman until Tellez is back in the fold.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Returning Tuesday
Tellez (forearm) will return from the injured list Tuesday in Philadelphia, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. He will end up missing nearly two weeks due to right forearm inflammation. Tellez hit .186 with only three home runs in his most recent 161 at-bats, but if the forearm issue was contributing to his ineffectiveness, he could be poised for a much better second half.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Goes on IL with forearm issue
Milwaukee placed Tellez on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with right forearm inflammation. This diagnosis might help to explain some of Tellez's recent struggles, as he has slashed just .136/.184/.173 over his last 87 plate appearances and hasn't homered since May 22. He'll be first eligible to return the Saturday after the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Idle versus lefty
Tellez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs. For the second straight day, the Brewers are facing a southpaw starter (Drew Smyly), so Tellez will once again find himself on the bench. Platoon mate Owen Miller will step in for Tellez at first base and bat cleanup.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Out against southpaw
Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. With southpaw Rich Hill on the bump for Pittsburgh, the lefty-hitting Tellez will head to the bench for the series finale. Owen Miller steps in for Tellez at first base.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting versus lefty
Tellez isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday against the Mets. Tellez has been in a major slump lately, slashing just .167/.207/.231 since the beginning of June. He'll retreat to the bench against lefty David Peterson, shifting Owen Miller to first base, Luis Urias to second, Brian Anderson to third and opening a spot for Blake Perkins to start in right field while batting leadoff.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting against lefty
Tellez is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Pirates. Owen Miller will play first base and bat leadoff. Brian Anderson is in the DH role and batting sixth. Tellez carries a .532 OPS this year against lefties and the Pirates are starting veteran southpaw Rich Hill.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Not starting Friday
Tellez is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Athletics. Owen Miller will start at first base and bat leadoff for the Brewers as the A's stage a bullpen game headed by left-handed opener Sam Moll. Brian Anderson is taking a turn at designated hitter.... See More ... See Less
