After getting a day off Tuesday, Torres returned to the lineup Wednesday and extended his hit steak to four games. He led off the Yankees' five-run second inning with a double and scored on a single by Willie Calhoun. Torres extended the lead to 11-1 in the fourth with a two-run homer, marking his third long ball of the season and first since April 3. The 26-year-old has appeared in 23 of New York's 25 games, so barring the occasional rest day, he's locked in as the team's everyday second baseman.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Torres was removed from Tuesday's lineup against the Guardians after he tweaked his right hip flexor/groin area, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports. He went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored before leaving.
Kuty notes that Boone did not sound too worried about the infielder's status going forward, and that he's not scheduled to undergo testing at this time. The 25-year-old infielder should be considered day-to-day for now with a good chance to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Guardians.

The 26-year-old made an impact from the opening frame, providing the game's first run when he drove in teammate Aaron Judge on a single to left field. Torres continues to impress, slashing .421/.560/.789 with two home runs and six RBI through 25 plate appearances. Torres stole just 10 bases last year and had a career-high 14 steals in 2021, but he's already contributed five of the team's nine stolen bases through the first week of the season.

Torres used his wheels to score New York's final run in the seventh inning. He led off the frame with a walk, swiped second as part of a double-steal with Anthony Volpe, advanced to third on a wild pitch, then came home on another wild pitch. The second baseman appears to be taking advantage of the new rules in MLB this season, as he already has two thefts through three games. Torres' career high is 14 steals, which he accomplished in 2021.

Torres went 2-for-2 with a a home run, three walks, a stolen base, two total runs and two total RBI in Monday's 8-1 victory over the Phillies.
Torres enjoyed a big night at the plate, as he not only reached base in all five of his plate appearances but also slammed the 100th home run of his big-league career. The long ball came in the third inning and was his second RBI of the contest following a run-scoring single in the first. Torres is off to a nice start to the season, slashing .333/.529/.833 with two homers, four RBI, five runs and three thefts through 15 plate appearances.

Torres went 1-for-3 with two-run home run, a walk, an additional run scored and a stolen base during Thursday's 5-0 win over the Giants.
Starting at DH and batting sixth, Torres took Logan Webb deep to right in the bottom of the fourth inning. He then drew a walk and eventually crossed the plate again on a DJ LeMahieu single in the bottom of the seventh. Trade rumors swirled around Torres all spring as the Yankees continued to lose starting pitchers to injuries, but he remains in the Bronx with the tools to provide strong fantasy production throughout the 2023 campaign and is off to a strong start.
