Diaz was placed on the restricted list following the All-Star break and missed seven consecutive games for personal reasons. The 32-year-old will be available for Friday's series opener against the Reds and should slot in at first base. Diaz is slashing .273/.329/.396 with eight homers, 46 RBI and 35 runs during 416 plate appearances.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday on MLB Network Radio that Diaz (personal) is expected to rejoin the team before Friday's game against the Reds, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.
Diaz has been on the restricted list and away from the club since the start of the second half while dealing with a personal family matter, but it appears his absence will not extend any longer. The Rays already have an open roster spot after trading Randy Arozarena to the Mariners, so they won't need to make a corresponding transaction for Diaz.

Manager Kevin Cash said he had no update on Diaz's (personal) status prior to Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, MLB.com reports.
Diaz has been away from the Rays since the All-Star break and was officially placed on the restricted list Saturday. Cash confirmed that Diaz's placement on the restricted list isn't the result of any team-related decision, as the veteran infielder is tending to a personal family matter. Diaz remains in daily communication with the team.

Diaz remains on the active roster for the time being, but it's not clear when he might be back in Tampa Bay's lineup. Isaac Paredes will handle first base duties Friday while Jose Caballero occupies the hot corner.
Diaz went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Friday's 2-0 win over the Guardians.
Diaz singled in the third inning and drove in a run on his 20th double of the year in the fifth. He later added a single in the seventh and has logged multiple hits in three of his past six games. On the year, the 32-year-old is hitting .276 with eight home runs, 45 RBI and 35 runs scored over 408 plate appearances.
Diaz went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and a three-run home run in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers.
His seventh-inning shot off Jacob Latz gave the Rays a brief lead, but the bullpen immediately squandered it in the bottom of the frame. Four of Diaz's eight homers on the season have come in his last 14 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .311/.344/.574 with four doubles and 12 RBI -- although curiously, the only runs he's scored during that time have come on his own home runs, despite the fact that he's consistently batting leadoff for Tampa Bay.

Diaz is getting a day off Thursday after going 1-for-9 in the first two games of the series versus the Royals. This is his first absence from the lineup since May 25. Isaac Paredes will shift over from third to first base, and Jose Caballero will enter the lineup at third in the ninth spot.
Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Mariners.
With his first-inning single off George Kirby, Diaz extended his streak to 19 games and tied the franchise record in the process. He's been a great tone-setter, with 40 RBI out of the leadoff spot this season, one of five players to reach that mark thus far. The 32-year-old has been on a tear in June, hitting .343 with three homers and 15 RBI.
