Reds' Justin Wilson: Back with Reds on MLB deal
Wilson signed a one-year contract with the Reds on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
The move appears to be in direct response to Alex Young (back) needing a stint on the injured list to begin the season. Wilson recently opted out of his minor-league deal with the Dodgers after striking out nine and allowing two runs over four spring innings. The 36-year-old last appeared in the majors with the Reds in 2022 before needing Tommy John surgery.

Dodgers' Justin Wilson: Drawing manager's attention
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Wilson is one player who has caught his attention in camp, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Wilson is with the Dodgers on a minor-league contract, so he's not on the 40-man roster and is far from guaranteed to break camp with the big club. However, given Roberts' comments, there's at least a chance that the left-hander hurler could make the Opening Day roster, and he's made his presence known with a 10:1 K:BB over four innings across four spring outings (though he's also given up two runs on five hits). Wilson has had plenty of success in the majors with 18 career saves and 132 career holds, but he hasn't pitched in the big leagues since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June of 2022.

Dodgers' Justin Wilson: Signs as non-roster invitee
Wilson (lat) agreed to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Wilson was expected to return from Tommy John surgery in the middle of last season but suffered a lat injury just before making his 2023 debut, and he missed the entire campaign. Wilson opened the season on the IL while recovering from Tommy John surgery and was reinstated July 28, only to return to the IL one day later when he was diagnosed with a left lat strain. Manager Craig Counsell confirmed that Wilson's latest injury will keep him out for the season, so the veteran reliever's move to the 60-day IL was merely a formality. Wilson didn't make any appearances with the Brewers during his day-long stay on the active roster and only made five appearances for the Reds in 2022 before getting his elbow surgically repaired. The Brewers hold an affordable $2.5 million team option for Wilson in 2024, but his poor health record the past two years could be enough to dissuade Milwaukee from retaining the soon-to-be 36-year-old southpaw.

Wilson suffered the lat strain while warming up for his season debut July 29 after recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he won't end up taking the big-league mound this season. Wilson was reinstated from the 60-day IL on Friday after working his way back from Tommy John surgery, but he suffered another injury in the Brewers' bullpen just moments before he was about to make his season debut. The 35-year-old lefty will be eligible to return beginning Aug. 13, and Trevor Megill will come up from Triple-A to take his spot in the bullpen.

Wilson has been out of action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2022, but he's now ready to make his debut in the Brewers' bullpen. Reds' Justin Wilson: Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Wilson underwent Tommy John surgery Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Wilson had been sidelined with an elbow injury since late April, and he moved to the 60-day injured list in late May. Following Friday's procedure, the southpaw will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2022 season and most or all of the 2023 campaign. It's a discouraging development for the 34-year-old, who had been effective over a limited sample in 2022, allowing just one run on three hits and no walks while striking out seven in 3.2 relief innings.
