Corbin (10-15) took the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks over 4.2 innings against the Orioles while striking out two. Corbin was victimized by a two-run shot off the bat of Adley Rutschman in the bottom of the third, after the lefty walked Austin Hays to open the frame. The 34-year-old veteran's troubles would continue in the fifth inning, where he was once again charged with two runs, marking his second consecutive start with at least four runs allowed. Corbin has failed to make it through five innings in each of his last two outings and in three of his last five. He's also given up six home runs this month and has now lost four of his last five starts.... See More ... See Less

Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Blasted in 14th loss
Corbin (10-14) took the loss Friday, allowing five runs on five hits and one walk over 4.1 innings against Atlanta. He struck out one. Corbin conceded Ronald Acuna's 40th home run of the year to lead off the game and never recovered. It was a miserable night for the 34-year-old southpaw, as he also matched his season low for strikeouts. Corbin has a 5.13 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 122:53 K:BB over 175.1 innings. He'll look to close out the year on a better note in his last start, currently slated to be a rematch against Atlanta.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Allows one run in no-decision
Corbin did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings against Milwaukee. He struck out two. Corbin held the Brewers scoreless through five to maintain a 1-0 lead, but Mark Canha led off the sixth with a leadoff single and a steal of second. A sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly followed as the Brewers manufactured their way to tie the game against Corbin, costing him a chance at earning his 11th win. After having allowed 14 runs over nine innings in his previous two starts, Corbin tossed his second consecutive quality start to improve his ERA to an even 5.00 over 171 innings. His next start is scheduled to take place over the weekend at home against Atlanta.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Strikes out eight, earns 10th win
Corbin (10-13) earned the win Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over 6.2 innings against the Pirates. He struck out eight. After allowing 14 runs in his previous two starts, Corbin bounced back with a quality start in earning his 10th win. He was staked to a 6-1 lead and recorded two outs in the seventh but was bounced after a Ji Hwan Bae double plated a second run for the Pirates. The 6.2 innings represented Corbin's longest outing since July 9 and the eight strikeouts were his second highest total of the season. Corbin will look to follow up on this strong performance in his next start, scheduled to occur this weekend in Milwaukee.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Mauled by Mets
Corbin (9-13) took the loss Tuesday as the Nationals were downed 11-5 by the Mets, coughing up eight runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over four innings. He struck out two. A four-run first inning punctuated by a three-run homer off Francisco Alvarez's bat set the tone for Corbin's night. The veteran lefty got the hook after 83 pitches (53 strikes) and he's served up multiple long balls in four of his last seven starts, stumbling to a 5.92 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 26:13 K:BB through 38 innings over that stretch. With the Nationals playing out the string, Corbin will remain in the rotation, but he's got little fantasy appeal heading into his next outing, likely to come early next week in Pittsburgh.... Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Tagged for six runs in loss
Corbin (9-12) took the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs on 10 hits and a walk over five innings in a 7-0 loss against the Blue Jays. He struck out five. Corbin had been pitching well coming into Wednesday's start, posting a 2.12 ERA over his previous three outings. The Blue Jays got to him early, scoring twice in the first inning, eventually handing Corbin his first loss since July 24. Overall, the left-hander now sports a 4.90 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 109:48 K:BB across 27 starts (154.1 innings) this season. Corbin will look to get back on track in his next start, currently scheduled for next week at home against the Mets.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Grabs ninth win
Corbin (9-11) earned the win Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings against the Yankees. He struck out seven. Corbin struggled with his command early on, surrendering a solo home run to Aaron Judge on a hanging four-seamer in the first inning and then allowing a two-run shot to Gleyber Torres in the third. However, the lefty was able to recover after that, making it through six frames for the third time in his last four starts while fanning seven -- his second-highest strikeout total of the season. Corbin has now won his last three decisions and currently holds a 2.70 ERA through four August starts.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Earns eighth win with quality start
Corbin (8-11) earned the win Thursday, allowing one run on four hits over six innings against the Red Sox. He struck out six. The lefty was mostly dominant over his six innings of work, with his one big mistake coming in the top of the third when a 92.7 mph four-seamer to Triston Casas wound up in the stands in center field. However, Corbin made up for it by retiring 13 of the next 14 batters he faced to seal the win. He has now allowed three or fewer runs and no more than four hits in each of his last three starts, lowering his season ERA to 4.71. He's also won four of his last six decisions (spanning nine starts).... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Seven walks in no-decision
Corbin did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing one unearned run on one hit and seven walks over five innings against Philadelphia. He struck out two. Corbin turned in quite the interesting statline Thursday, allowing one hit -- a double -- through five scoreless innings on the mound, but he issued a season-high seven walks, throwing just 44 of 87 pitches for strikes. The 34-year-old lefty started the sixth inning, but he was removed after committing an error, and Nationals reliever Andres Machado immediately served up a two-run homer to Trea Turner, accounting for Corbin's sole run, albeit unearned. In five outings since the All-Star break, Corbin has a 4.71 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB across 28.2 innings during that stretch. He currently lines up to face Boston in his next outing.... Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Serves up three homers Friday
Corbin did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk over 6.1 innings against the Reds. He struck out two. While it goes down as a quality start for Corbin, he had more homers allowed than strikeouts, so it wasn't exactly an impressive performance. It could have been a lot worse -- all three homers were solo shots, and Corbin left the game in line for his 12th loss of the campaign before the Nationals rallied to take him off the hook. The left-hander has been one of the worst regular starters in baseball for several years now and nothing in his underlying stats points to significant improvement ahead.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Yields six runs
Corbin (6-11) allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and two walks over 6.1 innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against Colorado. Corbin turned in three shutout frames before the Rockies finally broke through with a pair of runs in the fourth. He's given up at least six runs in three of his last six outings, resulting in a 5.55 ERA during that stretch. The veteran southpaw saw his ERA climb back to 5.01 alongside an 85:36 K:BB through 120.1 frames. Corbin is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Mets this weekend.... See More ... Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Fans six in 5.1 innings
Corbin did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Cubs. He struck out six. Most of the damage against Corbin came in the sixth inning, as the lefty allowed a solo homer to Seiya Suzuki and then back-to-back singles to Ian Happ and Cody Bellinger as part of a two-run inning. Prior to the sixth frame, however, Corbin was much better and allowed just one baserunner to reach second. Corbin has undergone an up-and-down stretch over the four starts leading up to Tuesday's tilt, allowing one or fewer runs in two starts while giving up six or more in the other pair of appearances.... Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Stifles Rangers
Corbin (6-10) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over seven innings against the Rangers. He struck out six. After taking the loss in five of his last six starts, Corbin picked up a win against one of baseball's top offenses Sunday. He got off to an incredible start, retiring each of the first 10 batters he faced to end up with one run against him across seven frames. The left-hander has had a rollercoaster stretch of starts, allowing six or more runs in two of his past four starts but has given up just one run between his other two appearances. Overall, Corbin owns a 4.89 ERA through 19 starts, a solid improvement from his ugly 6.31 ERA in 2022. Corbin's tentatively scheduled to make his next start during a three-game series with St. Louis right after the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Falls to Cincinnati
Corbin (5-10) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on 10 hits and three walks over five innings in an 8-4 loss against the Reds. He struck out two. It was a rough day for Corbin after he shut out the Mariners over seven innings in his previous start. The 33-year-old lefty is now 1-5 with a 5.54 ERA over his last seven starts. Overall, Corbin's ERA is up to 5.13 with a 1.59 WHIP and 68:32 K:BB across 18 starts (101.2 innings) this season. It won't get any easier for Corbin in his next outing -- he's scheduled for a home matchup with the Rangers this weekend.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Placed on bereavement list
The Nationals placed Corbin on the bereavement list Friday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. Corbin just pitched Wednesday against the Mariners and will presumably be back by his next scheduled turn in the rotation. The 33-year-old lefty has a 5-9 record with a 4.84 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 66:29 K:BB in 96.2 innings (17 starts) this season.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Hurls seven shutout innings
Corbin (5-9) earned the win Wednesday, allowing five hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings against the Mariners. He struck out nine. Corbin had it going Wednesday, doing most of his damage with his four-seamer and slider as he limited the Mariners to five singles and no runs over seven strong innings. The left-hander struck out a season-high nine batters in the contest, while it also marked his first scoreless outing of his 2023 campaign. Corbin had lost his last four decisions coming in, all in June, so Wednesday's gem was certainly a step in the right direction.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Takes ninth loss
Corbin (4-9) took the loss Friday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings against San Diego. He struck out three. Corbin had his worst start of the season, and he has now allowed 11 runs across his last 11 innings pitched. The former Diamondback is in the midst of another rough season, as he currently has a 5.32 ERA after posting a 6.31 mark last year. The veteran southpaw's next chance to redeem himself is tentatively slated to be against the Mariners on Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Falls to Marlins
Corbin (4-8) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on 11 hits and two walks over six innings against the Marlins. He struck out three. It's the third straight loss for Corbin, though he's pitched at least six innings in eight of his last 10 starts. The 33-year-old left-hander has a 4.89 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 54:26 K:BB through 15 starts (84.2 innings) this season. Corbin currently lines up to face the Padres on the road in his next outing.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Takes loss despite quality start
Corbin (4-6) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on 11 hits and one walk over six innings against Arizona. He struck out four. Corbin allowed a season-high 11 hits but walked only one batter after issuing eight free passes across his past two starts and posted his sixth quality start of the year. The veteran left-hander has given up multiple runs in each of his 13 starts this season and holds a 4.89 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB over 73.2 innings. Corbin is pitching better than he has over the previous two seasons, but he's still not doing enough to warrant much attention in standard fantasy leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Settles for no-decision
Corbin didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out two. The veteran southpaw got ambushed for three runs in the first inning on homers by Mookie Betts and Will Smith, but Corbin shook it off and gave the Nationals a chance to mount a comeback, exiting after 88 pitches (50 strikes). The 33-year-old saw his three-start win streak snapped, but he still wraps up May with a respectable 4.21 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, albeit with a subpar 21:9 K:BB through 36.1 innings.... See More ...
