The White Sox will have a decision to make based on the health of injured starters John Danks and Philip Humber. White Sox GM Kenny Williams will likely trade for a starter if at least one of them isn't back soon, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reports.
Danks has not pitched since May 19. He has started exercising in a pool, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com. But he is still feeling pain when he throws and there is no timetable for his return.
Humber has made two rehab start at Triple-A and could be kept down for a third, ESPN Chicago reports. Chicago has no reason to rush him back into the rotation -- Humber has allowed 44 earned runs (including 12 home runs) in 53 innings since throwing a perfect game against Seattle on April 21.
Jose Quintana has been excellent in his eight starts, with a 2.04 ERA and a 3.03 FIP. But Gavin Floyd has been awful (4.91 ERA, 4.74 FIP) and Dylan Axelrod (4.91 ERA, 5.21 FIP) has struggled in his first four starts in the majors. Despite the brilliance of Chris Sale and Jake Peavy this season, the White Sox are just 10th in starter ERA.
