Mariners first baseman/outfielder Mike Carp could be traded this offseason, according to the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo.
With the Mariners committed to Justin Smoak at first, Carp could be used as trade bait. An NL scout told Cafardo that Carp could be a breakout candidate if he’s able to get out of Safeco Field.
The 26-year-old has struggled this season, hitting just .216/.316/.346 in 187 plate appearances. Despite those issues, Cafardo mentioned that Carp is “starting to appear on a few teams’ wish lists.”
