The Dodgers could go after Aramis Ramirez as a potential third base upgrade, Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reported. San Diego third baseman Chase Headley still ranks higher on the Dodgers' list, but the veteran Ramirez would be a worthy consolation prize.

Los Angeles third basemen have a .631 OPS, better than just Arizona and Philadelphia in the National League. Jerry Hairston has played well but is occasionally needed at other positions; Juan Uribe (.521 OPS) and Adam Kennedy (.624 OPS) have been atrocious.

Ramirez would mark a clear upgrade. He has an .821 OPS for the Brewers despite a slow start. Since April 22 he is hitting .298/.373/.524. Ramirez is under contract through 2014 and will make $10 million next season and $16 million in the contract's final year.
