Former Rangers’ catcher Yorvit Torrealba is heading to the Blue Jays, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Drew Davison.

Shortly after the team acquired Geovany Soto from the Cubs, Torrealba was designated for assignment. No team claimed Torrealba, and he was released.

In 182 plate appearances with the Rangers, Torrealba hit .236/.302/.342 this year. With J.P. Arencibia currently on the shelf with a broken hand, the Blue Jays needed some stability at the position.
