The Boston Red Sox have claimed relief pitcher Sandy Rosario off waivers from the Miami Marlins.

In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Rosario, the Red Sox have designated outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin for assignment.

Rosario has allowed 13 earned runs in 7 2/3 innings with the Marlins over the past three seasons, giving up six earned runs in three innings in 2012. The right-hander pitched 26 innings over 25 appearances for the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate last season, going 0-2 with a 1.04 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 24 strikeouts and 16 saves.
