Orioles promote Ramon Ramirez to major-league team

The Orioles selected the contract of pitcher Ramon Ramirez Monday.

Ramirez struck out 14 and walked one in eight scoreless innings with Triple-A Norfolk after signing a deal at the end of May. He also surrendered five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings with Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the season.
