The Cubs have acquired pitcher Marcelo Carreno to complete the Aug. 5 trade sending Jeff Baker to the Tigers, ESPN Chicago reported Tuesday.

Carreno, 21, spent his second season at High-A West Michigan in 2012. In 27 starts, Carreno posted a 3.23 ERA behind a tremendous 4.4 K/BB; he allowed just five home runs as well. Carreno is no guarantee to make it as a starter but could have success in the bullpen if a switch is made.

Baker appeared in only 15 games for the Tigers, with a .500 OPS, before they flipped him to Atlanta for another player to be named later (eventually named as Greg Ross). Baker played 14 games for Atlanta and mustered just two hits in 19 at-bats.
